I actually have mixed feelings about this book. It's full of adventure & very detailed... But I just wasn't excited to read it like I was in the first book.
Don't get me wrong, I'm going to continue to read the series but I don't think I'll be reaching for the 3rd book anytime soon
*SPOILER ALERT*
I was very upset that Uncle Press had to die. He is the character that I felt held the story together. I'm not sure how the author is going to go on without this character, i...more

I really, really enjoyed this book. In many ways more so than the first. Bobby is much more mature than he is in the first adventure and he seems to have accepted that he is a Traveler and "that is the way things are meant to be." The story was very well-paced, and I was actually bummed when the writer went back to discuss how things were going on Second Earth. I will say this though...I hate Andy Mitchell. I mean truly I can't stand that annoying kid. For a writer to have me display t...more

This book is about Fourteen-year-old Bobby Pendragon who is a Traveler, like his uncle. Bobby finds himself in the territory of Cloral, a world that is completely covered with water. Cloral is near disaster because of Saint Dane himself. Can Bobby save Cloral from it's own destruction??
I cringed when I saw Mark make that stupid mistake of falling for Andy Mitchell's blackmail. If you're going to call Andy Mitchell ...more

Prepare for another surprising and dramatic journey through Halla with Bobby Pendragon!
The second book in the series tells about what happens after Bobby’s win over Saint Dane on the territory of Denduron. “Malos” (AKA Saint Dane) escaped to a territory called Cloral. This oceanic territory has no land and is the home of Vo Spader, an Aquaneer (think life guard/police officer) and traveler...more

This book was a heck of a lot better than the first. At least that's what I thought. We pick off right where Bobby has finally woken up from his nap. He goes back to his house to find out that all there is, is an empty lot. There is no sign that Bobby had ever lived here. His family is gone and his home is gone. So now he is going with his Uncle Press to the territory of Cloral. Cloral is where Saint Dane has gone and now Press and Bobby are on their way there. When they reach they see that ther...more
Although I reluctantly read the Pendragon book 1 and being that this series isn't meant for my age group, ie., i'm around 19 now and these books are really meant for much younger age group but i recently got the whole series so i wasn't going to let it go waste but #2 The Lost City of Faar was much more interesting than the first one.........seeing as I only took one day to finish the whole book.

Great pre-teen to teen series. I wouldn't be surprised if the author was Mormon. It's about this kid who's Uncle is a traveler and takes him to another world to save it from the St. Dane who is hell bent on making war on each of the planets. Each book takes place on a different planet. It's very fun and entertaining. All about sticking to your values to achieve good.
Okay, it's official. I am now fully hooked on the Pendragon series.
Bobby Pendragon, fourteen-year-old new and confused Traveler of space and time, is headed to his next territory. This time, it's Cloral, a water territory where dry land is unheard of and the people have discovered all kinds of cool ways to use and overcome their aquatic surroundings.

I began listening to this book on CD but about a third of the way through, I could not stand the whining by main character Bobby Pendragon. I was enjoying the storyline so I decided after much debate to try reading the book instead. Am I glad I did that. Bobby's whining is still irritating but not so annoying that the story is lost. I must disagree with those readers who say this is better than Harry Potter: I have read all the Harry Potter books and listened to them narrated by Jim Dale (wh...more

This book first put me off when I started reading just by the size of its spine. I was wondering what the author could possibly put in that many pages. I soon found out.
The beginning grabbed me right away, just because the setting took place in Cloral, an aquatic habitat. The descriptions of Cloral made me think of a desert island or paradise (apart from some giant killer sharks). I kept reading and...suddenly got bored. I hit about 20 pages or so of descriptions. This one was better than the first, at least after you got past the first chapter or two where the author feels the need to briefly review everything that happened in the first book. This world was more imaginative, very creative and descriptive. It was a play on the search for the lost city Atlantis, but that's o.k. All of the cool water technology distracted you from the borrowed Utopia plot. This book also had a bit more mystery and puzzles to solve, and it wasn't nearly as violent as the...more
Nice try, MacHale.
This series isn't going anywhere. A friend told me that it was better than Harry Potter, which I already thought was a little too good to be true, but now I know is a mockery.
This series is based on an immiture teenager that gets sucked into different worlds, battling a shape-shifting evil-for-the-sake-of-being-evil being. Bobby (the protagonist) doesn't try to help anyone around him, and as a result, the characters that the reader actually respects ...more

Aha. I luff Cloral. I really do. It's the perfect world, sort-of. Kinda. Not really. xD In my opinion, it is. It just sounds so... fun. So high-tech. (but not as much as Veelox. o: ) That, and I love Spader. He's hilarious, so happy, so outgoing. He's an amazing guy. Not to mention, he looks pretty cute in my mind.
This book was amazing. Cloral was well-thought out, what with it's ancient back-history that actually came into play near the middle/back of the book. I loved each and every pag...more

This was my favorite book in the pendragon series. I love how he was able to take this concept of a world so different from our own and explain it so clearly that it's like I've been there. Naturally, my favorite thing about this book is Spader. Who couldn't love him? He's just this amazingly fresh, sweet, fun guy. I was really impressed with how MacHale could take such a simple character and develop him fully, then change him so dramatically after the death of his father. Great story, great cha...more

Bobby Pendragon is a junior high basketball player who got sucked in a "flume", or portal, and was brought to a medieval like world. After winning a battle against Saint Dane (the "Bad Guy") they move on to the next territory. There are ten territories of Halla, the second one being Cloral, a world with only ocean and floating habitats for people to live on.

MacHale delivered once more with his continuation of Pendragon's adventures as a Traveler. The writing style was far more developed and he was able to deeper indulge into identifying particular quality traits of each character.
Though, I will say I have changed allegiances from Mark to Courtney. In this book MacHale's writing of Mark make it clear that while he is a loyal friend and a lovable nerd but, he's got no backbone whatsoever and Courtney has to constantly bail him out of trouble.

Have you ever heard of quigs, Cloral, sniggers, acolytes, Halla or Saint Dane? If you want to find out what they are, read The Lost City of Faar. It is the second book in the Bobby Pendragon series. It takes place on the territory of Cloral. Cloral is entirely covered by water. Sounds like a fun place, right? It is until Saint Dane shows up. Where ever he goes, trouble follows.
