As much as I enjoyed reading the adventures of Courtney and Dodger back on First Earth, there was just something a little "off" about the dimension of Ibara. I admit that the shocknig truth behind that territory really took me back, but the hopelessness of the situation Pendragon found himself in was very dark.

Pendragon Book Eight: The Pilgrims of Rayne
Author: D.J. MacHale
The eighth book of the Pendragon series, The Pilgrims of Rayne, is another fantastic book written by D.J. MacHale. The book, for me, is just another starter that makes me want more of the main dish.
This book is another book talking about Bobby Pendragon, alias, the lead Traveler’s, problems on a different territory. This time, Bobby is in Ibara, which he describes as paradise. He finds nothing wrong on that territory More...

As we saw last in the previous book, it has started to become messier. And i'm finally nearing the end of the series. But I have to say after books 2, 3, and 4 of the Pendragon series #8 The Pilgrims of Rayne would be added in my list of books in the series that I actually liked. Lets find out why,

From the back cover: When Bobby Pendragon first arrives on the tropical world of Ibara, he finds paradise. As he works to uncover clues about the turning point this seemingly idyllic territory will soon face, all he can determine is that the people of Ibara are blissfully happy. It's not long before Bobby discovers, however, that they are blissfully...oblivious.
The leaders of Ibara are keeping a devastating secret from their people, one that gives Saint Dane all the opportunity he needs to More...

The Pendragon series is all about Bobby Pendragon and his quest to save Halla, a.k.a. everything in existence. Existence now consists of ten dimensions or "territories." Each Territory has its own turning point in history where things can either go very very wrong or very very right. It's Bobby's job as a Traveler to go between Territories and make sure all of the turning points go the right way. It's Saint Dane's job to make sure they don't. That has been the name of the game for awhi

I honestly don't know why I am still reading this series. I liked it at first and I do want to know what happens to Bobby Pendragon, but there is too much recapping in each book, and while the first person, journal style is fun at first, it is now irking.

I love how this series, like other really good YA literature, grows along with its protagonist and its readers, getting progressively darker and more intense with each installment. Because there's no doubt that this is a heavy adventure.
Feeling harried and desperate after his loss on Quillan, Bobby and Courtney are torn. On one hand, they desperately need to find their friend Mark, who may have changed the future and allied with Saint Dane. But on the other hand, Saint Dane is targ More...

I had a bit of trouble with this book. One of the great things this author does is make you really care about the characters. For me, that can lead to trouble because I get too emotionally wrapped up and when something happens that I don't agree with (like a lot of the decisions Bobby makes in this volume), it can leave me feeling troubled. So this was not my favorite just because I don't agree with what Bobby did. To be fair, I don't think he really had many choices, but still I don't like

Bobby's journal: Bobby goes to Ibara, where the natives live off of their land. Even though they do, they also show signs of an advanced civilization, like artificial lights. No one dosen't wonder why except for a group named the Jakills. Leading them is Siry. After passing a greuling test, Bobby joins the Jakills in hopes of finding the truth.

Ryan loaned me this book so I could update myself on the travellers. At first I was a bit lost in the names of the worlds and how it kept switching back and forth between the first, second and third worlds. However, once I remembered the other books the adventure captured me. The building up to the big battle was very good. The technology of the book was way cool. This is a must read for the Pendragon lovers as it brings all the characters together. Saint Dane is so powerful - you never know

I started reading this young adult (ages 12+, though I don't recall anything too mature for an avidly reading 10 year old) series about 5+ years ago and have really enjoyed them. Although each is a "fat" 500+ page book, they're quick to read. There's plenty of adventure, the plotting is fast-paced, good characterization. The snappy dialog may be something that "dates" these books 10-15 years down the road. There's a lot of shifting from one subplot to the next and the author

First off I love the Pendragon books. I'm on book 9 of 10 and can't wait to finish the series. I loved this book, but it was not my favorite of the Pendragon series. I hated the way Bobby decided to handle his problem, but as a reader, there are going to be things that I don't always agree with. The rest of the book is really good, shocking news about Ibara that I NEVER expected. It took the book on a twist. And the way the book ended.. I won't spoil it but it kept me in agony while I was waitin

Two more to go. I got to say for that to have been the longest of the books in the series that I have read so far nothing much happened. He needs to learn how to edit this down more. I can only hope that there is a lot of set up in the last two books for what is going to happen in book 10. I don't want to say taht I am poo pooing the book but I think I am. I may need to just take a long break from the series and come back to it later. I want to finish it though I am interested in what happens i

Ok, just started. I'm only on the first few pages and all... but I thought I'd write the review as I went.
My passion for the series has died out a bit, so it may be hard to get back into it. But, oh well, they're good enough to pull me back in eventually... even if I haven't read any for a few weeks. Or months >.>
Anyway, I have high expectations... so many promises already... ah... wonderfulness... I'm so liking it. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

This novel can't be accurately reviewed without giving out the spoilers. Moreso than the previous 7 novels in the series this book contained many twists and turns that were for the most part unexpected by an avid Pendragon fan such as myself. This book finally answers many of the questions looming in Bobby's mind as well as the readers. Ends at a very interesting point that excited for the next book to be available for read to continue questing with Bobby on his travels through Halla.

Ibara is paradise. Bobby Pendragon flumes after Saint Dane yet again, hoping to find some answes. When he arrives on Ibara, he is attacked by quiq bees and is cared for by a girl named Telleo. Telleo helps care for the Jakills; a tribe that searches for the truth that their leaders are hiding from them. Pendragon soon realizes, the truth hurts.
This is again a great page turner. This book begins to build up to the climax of the series. I recommend you read it.

The series has evolved immensely. It went from little journeys to giant battles between good and evil but the line is beginning to blur. The twists and turns are wonderful. I love how human Bobby seems now. I feel as if I can connect with him more now. He has begun to bother me though and I wish he wasn't acting the way he is but after going through everything he has, it's understandable. One character I still don't understand is Saint Dane. I have never found anything about him that I can conne

I liked this book plot. In this book Bobby goes to Ibara and finds out that it is Veelox, and he doesn't like what he finds out. He and Ibara's Traveler Siry set out to find the truth beyond Siry's home island and find a wold that has crumbled and faded into nothing. When Siry and Bobby discover Siry's friends had been killed it's a race to see if Siry's island will be saved or dimolished.

Book eight in the Pendragon series.
Ibara is a tropical paradise where everything is peaceful and happy. Bobby, on the hunt for Saint Dane, soon discovers a secret--and the territory's turning point.
Meanwhile, Mark and Courtney come into ever more direct danger from Saint Dane. Mark disappears after a terrible tragedy and Courtney races to find him before he makes a mistake that could doom Halla.

Wow...I want to live on Ibarra, but I guess the point is that even "a perfect city" isn't so perfect! As we are getting close to the end, it seems like everything is speeding up to some pinnacle or turning point. Another great book...I can't wait to see how the author brings all of these territories and story plots together "as it was meant to be".
On to the next book!

I have to preface this by saying I took a break from the Pendragon books for a couple of months - I really enjoy them but was getting bogged down in the same ole', same ole'- they're quite long and I needed a changed of pace. I find I can read two or so and then need to go to something else to get a fresh perspective.
Having said that, this was a GREAT installment to the Bobby Pendragon saga - just when I think I've got things figured out, they change and change again. I hadn't waited More...

The eighth book in the series, it only gets better. Bobby, with the help of a few others, must save an entire culture from destruction. Another interesting element is, Bobby learns more about the travalers. Who they are, why they're here. He also learns stuff, that he doesn't want to hear. This book is amazing and will want the reader to jump right into book #9

Bobby finds out that the territory of Rayne is on Veelox. Crossing the territories is becoming more and more prevalent.
As Bobby travels and grows, I find that I don't like him quite as much. I realize that being 15 and having the future of the entire universe on your shoulders is pretty heavy. But, he is losing his childhood, and it is hard to see.
