Normally when I DNF a book I don't rate it, but I read more than 50% of Duty Bound and Harper has to be the most TSTL (Too Stubborn/Stupid To Live) woman I've read in a long time, so I'm giving this 2 stars - 2 because I like Levi, even though he put up with the way Harper treated him. But "like" is all the emotion I can muster up for him.

Maybe it's just my mood, but right now I have no patience for Harper's level of immaturity and selfishness.

This was exactly what I was looking for. I was in the mood for a book with a military hero, so when I saw this in my list of books to read I skipped others that were supposed to come first to read it.

The book starts out with a heart breaking scene of Gavin's funeral. I could feel the heartbreak of Levi, Sebastian, Declan, and Cole. And don't even get me started on the grief of Harper and her family. But Gavin's death left his friends at loose ends. It completely changed their lives and force

** I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads. **

This was a quick read for me. I am a sucker for a military man book, doesn't matter the branch, I'll read it. I am pretty sure this is the first book I have read that has dual authors, I don't know if I am a fan of that or just had a hard time connecting with the main character, Harper. For me I did enjoy the plot but there was something missing. Whether it was with Harper's character or the chemistry between Harper an

It was a great start to introduce us to The Protectors Series

Harper and Levi seem to have an instant love/hate relationship. Harper is extremely stubborn and try's to be strong. She hates Levi interfering in her life and treating her like a child.
Levi is trying to look out for his dead best friends sister. Being an ex-marine Levi is cool and intimidating while realising some of the best things in life come in small packages and that's definitely the case with Harper.
We are taken on a journey whe

3.5 stars, it's good and just this close to be my favorite.

I was expecting for more thrill and I actually got it. It's not as thick as Linda Howard's book, but overall I enjoyed it. I love Levi but I wish he's more.. Jerk toward Harper. Haha, I just love a Hero who loves tormenting the heroine. Samantha Chase and Noelle Adams's writing is blending together and I find myself loving it. It's good!

I actually finish this book in one day, but I got caught up and couldn't leave a review. Look forward

A good read but definitely not my favorite heroine. This was a good, quick fairly light romantic suspense. I really wanted to like this book, if hit all my favorite triggers: best friends forbidden sibling, headstrong heroine, former military alpha hero but I think my expectations may have been too high because I just found myself disappointed. I will say this I loved Levi, he did hit all the right notes with me. Tough, protective, a little haunted, he was excellent hero material. I just could ...more

The premise of this book was great, but I found the story itself to be a little bit of a letdown. It felt entirely surface to me, there was no depth. Maybe I built my expectations up too high after Salvation.

Levi is a former marine, that lost his best friend, Gavin, in the line of duty. He's returned to his small hometown for the funeral and to try and salvage some type of life. It's been years since he has seen Gavin's little sister, Harper, and he can't believe what a beautiful woman she's bec

Such an amazing, exciting book. So full strength, loyalty and finally love. This story showed how this group of such good friends that stuck together as Marines, be sent off together to war. How their hard times together can end in sadness back in America. At the funeral of one of their closest friends, Gavin.

Until close friend Levi, gorgeous friend of Gavin after seeing Gavin's family and sister, he feels he really has to help her out with her Journalist career to further her hope to find out m

"I wanted to be there for you....because of you. I may have tried at first to tell myself I was doing it for Gavin, that you were just a duty to me. But the truth is, Harper, I wanted to be there for you. I wanted to take care of you." Levi

Duty Bound is the first book in a series by Samantha Chase and Noelle Adams, and I'll just tell you now they made a damn hot book boyfriend in Levi.

When we are young we find our forever friends sometimes and well that’s what Levi found in Gavin. The played together, got in trouble together, went to war together but they didn’t die together. Which was just tearing up Levi to no end thinking he did something wrong and it should have been him. Gavin was the nicest guy you ever met, always wanting to check to make sure things were safe for you and always willing to give you the clothes off his back.
This time though it cost him because Levi w

Review: Levi returns home after serving time in the military, and one of the first things that he has to face is his buddy, and fellow soldier, Gavin's funeral. Gavin was killed in action while they were on a mission, so Levi is at the funeral, along with three of their other friends. Gavin's sister, Harper, does not easily welcome Levi home, and she struggles not to place blame on him for being the one to come home, rather than her brother. Levi also blames himself for that.

Levi and his best friend are on a mission together when Gavin is killed. Their team returned scared and damaged and not just physically. At Gavin’s funeral Levi is shocked to see how much his friend’s little sister has changed. She is all grown up and still the girl that fought for the underdog and lead the battle against injustices. The feelings that she evoked in Levi however were not of a little sister.

Harper does not have little sister feelings for her brother’s bes

I was really excited to start Duty Bound. I recently discovered Samantha Chase and Noelle Adams and have enjoyed their works. I thought perfect! I like these two authors, I should enjoy their books they wrote together. Unfortunately that is not what happened. The writing was just not good. It was...it was just not written as well as other books I read by either of the authors. That and I couldn't stand Harper. That definitely didn't help.

4.5 SUSPENSEFUL STARS!

This was a great book full of steam, forbidden love, heart ache, emotional moments, suspense, twist and turns, and one alpha male who will protect the girl he loves no matter what.

This is the story of Levi and Harper. Levi is a military guy recently out. This books opens up with a bang- Levi's best friend (also Harper's older brother) was killed overseas and they are at his funeral. Levi is having trouble coping with the death and blames himself. The guilt is starting to we

Duty Bound is a great start to The Protectors series and it marks the successful collaboration between Ms. Chase and Ms. Adams. These authors do a wonderful job of creating an entire cast of characters that you can’t help but enjoy spending time with. The fact that the series appears to be centered on the core four returning home from the service – Levi, Sebastian, Declan, and Cole – makes it that much easier to become invested in their stories.

In this first installment, the four have returned

Duty Bound
In the fictional story Duty Bound by Samantha Chase and Noelle Adams, Levi blames himself for the death of his friend, Gavin, but it was just a terrible accident while they were serving their country. Unfortunately, Gavin's sister, Harper, blames him for her brothers' death as well. They seem to share the same feelings they had when they were kids...feelings of hate. When Harper decides to investigate deeper into her brothers death, she starts to receive anonymous threats and she come

Trompeuse

In Duty Bound, Levi returns form parts unknown with his buddies, all except one. His best friend Gavin returns in a box, and he feels responsible. Which means, naturally (I guess?), that he feels protective of Gavin’s sister Harper. Harper’s a journalist who’s been making inquiries into her brother’s death and getting some unwanted attention in the form of death threats and slashed tires. Levi is all in her business trying to save her from herself and her enemy. But Harper’s a tough kid, and she ...more

I just finished Duty Bound and I liked it. It is a military based novel and if you are into this sort of thing then this is for you. Harpers brother Gavin has died in battle. Levi and his friends (friends of Gavin) are at the funeral when Levi sees Harper. He hasn't seen her in a while and man has she grown up. Things are sad that are not very good so you think that there wouldn't be anything that would happen. Nope, Harper is being targeted for trying to find out what happened to her brother. ...more

Levi and Gavin are long-time friends, and buddies who served together in the military, along with 3 other close friends. In an accident, Gavin is killed, and the other guys return home/leave the military. Harper is Gavin's younger sister, who also grew up knowing Levi. Upon Levi's return, he is dealing with acclimating as a civilian, and dealing with his new feelings for the now grown up Harper. Into this setting drops some incidents involving Harper that lead the

I am still trying to decide what I want to say about this book while I am writing the review.

I have wanted to read this book since I posted the blitz about it on my blog.

We have Levi, who is back from war with his other 3 friends. They have lost the fifth member of their group, who also was Harper’s brother.

Harper is on a mission to find out what actually happened when her brother died. Levi knows the answer to that but doesn’t want her to know.

And so it goes.

I loved Levi as the protective al

Duty Bound drew my attention from the blurb as I love a good best friend’s sister romance and military romances. Thankfully, Duty Bound didn’t let me down.

Admittedly, when I first started this book I wasn’t overly taken by either Levi nor Harper but as the story progressed I managed to get fully into their story, although Harper annoyed me at times but not enough to put me off reading. The dual points of views helped develop the characters and I loved how both had such stubborn attitudes and pe

Duty Bound was a good read. Duty Bound was a little different than I had expected. Cole, Sebastian, Declan, and Levi returned from the Marines, they are all a little broken. Gavin, who is the friend, has passed away while on duty. Levi and Gavin were best friends. Harper is Gavin's sister. I thought it was going to be an easy love story between Levi and Harper. But when Levi goes up to talk to Harper at Gavin's funeral and she says, "You son of a bitch. Why couldn't it have been you?", that when ...more

3.5 stars. Another story about veterans coming home from war without a clear picture of what they want to do after the military. In this case, the buddy of these guys died before they got home and they all feel guilty about it, particularly Levi, the main focus of this book. Levi was lifelong friends with the guy who died and his younger sister, Harper. Harper is a bit of a hothead and tells Levi at the funeral that she wished Levi had died that day, not her brother.
