This is the first book I've read by Heather Boyd, and I absolutely loved it! Arabella is most certainly a damsel-in-distress but she is one with spirit and determination, and while she is quite a lovely character, it is Merrick who takes the icing on the cake in this story for his kindness and care to Arabella. Ultimately, this was a story of one loving man teaching the gift of love to one wounded woman, told beautifully and with fantastic pacing!

This season Arabella Lawson is hoping to finally attract a lover. She is known throughout the ton as a perfect lady as there is never a hint of scandal attached to her name. This season Arabella is in London chaperoning her niece and is struggling because the girl is quite a challenge. One evening she goes search for her but runs into Merrick Bishop the Earl of Rothwell. Merrick Bishop is on the hunt for a wife this season. He has specific requirements in mind and hopes that with this marriage ...more

This is book 4 in the Distinguished Rogues series, but has characters from Hunting the Hero as the H/H and secondary characters.

Arabella Lawson, Lady Farnsworth, has come to London to find a lover after an unfulfilled marriage. While chaperoning her niece during her first season, Arabella is hoping to find a kind lover to rid her of her innocence. Unfortunately, her unruly niece has kept her on her toes and hasn't left much time for search fo

I enjoyed this book. I really liked the H. My only complaint is that the h Arabella had no backbone. I felt she was always waiting for someone to save her. That being said this was still a pretty good book which i would recommenced to my friends.

Ok lets get started. You got Arabella who has been ordered to help chaperon her niece for the season. Her niece is a handful and Arabella is constantly losing her. One night she g

I enjoyed this story up to a point--I don't know, maybe 75-80% in--when it just ran out of tension. There was still plenty of plot left--kidnapping and family secrets revealed and whatnot--but the heroine's continued dithering over whether or not she truly loved the hero seemed unrealistic to me. Okay, maybe she couldn't decide whether or not she loved him. Maybe she didn't really know what love was. But couldn't decide whether or not to marry him? It's 19th century England, sweetheart, and you ...more

An Accidental Affair by Heather Boyd is the fourth book in her Distinguished Rogues series. It was an enjoyable read I liked well enough but I have read better. The character are typical for a trope like this virginal widow looking for an affair to spread her wings and express the freedom of her widowhood. Then there is your typical titled scoundrel turning over a new leaf and in search of a wife. Not unique characters but they are well written very likable and easy to sympathize with.

Arabella Lawson, Lady Farnsworth, is pressed into service by her brother in law, the current Lord Farnsworth, to chaperone her niece’s Season. Being a widow Arabella decides it’s perfectly acceptable to seek a lover while in London. Of course events spiral out of Arabella’s control.

Arabella, widowed virgin, leaves Winslette, her country home, to chaperone Cecily during her Season. While in London Arabella intends to remedy her virginal state. After all, once Cecily is married who knows when such

As some of you know, Heather Boyd has become one of my very favorite authors. When I find out she has a new book to read I get so excited, I'm like a kid with a brand new toy. When I found out An Accidental Affair was ready to be released I was beyond ecstatic! When I received this book I was just going to read a few pages. However I became so caught up in the story that I ended up reading the whole thing.

This story is about Lady Arabella that I met in Hunting the Hero. I just knew that Bella h

...entertaining!

Finding true love is no easy thing. Widowed Arabella Lawson, Lady Farnsworth, 'not the type of woman to incite great passion in the gentlemen', comes to town to chaperone her niece, and with a personal 'mission'--to take a lover.
The thing is she was married off to a much older man and before she returns to a quiet country life she decides to live just a little, to find out the truth and hopefully the joy of a brief romance.
Stolen kisses in the library seem a start--or an ending

An Accidental Affair is the fourth book in the Distinguished Rogue series but can fully standalone. A historical regency romance, the earl looking for a suitable wife trope has an interesting twist when said suitable wife prospect is unfortunately not interested. Merrick, Lord Rothwell is on a quest to find a wife but his reputation as a rogue precedes him, that most suitable young ladies seems unwilling to take on his past. More specifically his father's own sexually prolific past. He sets his ...more

4.5 Stars - Merrick has a bad reputation but he's trying to be responsible so he's looking for a wife. Arabella is a widow with a pristine reputation but is untouched and wants to find a lover. Merrick has admired Arabella from afar knowing she would never be interested in him. He accidently ends up kissing Arabella in a library which brings her forefront in his mind. When Arabella's brother-in-law abuses her because she won't marry someone that he's picked out, she runs way and seeks refuge in ...more

I received An Accidental Affair as part of a Goodreads giveaway.

Arabella, the widowed Lady Farnsworth, lives with her late husband's brother, his wife, and their daughter. Tasked with chaperoning her niece Cecily around the London marriage market, Arabella also has a goal of her own: to find a lover to put the memories of her loveless, sexless marriage behind her once and for all. She finds an intriguing candidate in Merrick, Lord Rothwell. But Merrick, rogue that he is, also has a good heart (a

I found An Accidental Affair to be a historical romance treat – it is sweet and engaging and I could hardly put it down. There’s romantic drama and family drama and even some danger, but it’s all given in Boyd’s very deft hand so the flow makes it very easy to read.

A strong, interesting, and fun novel! Heather Boyd keeps giving me exactly what I'm looking for: Interesting women, and rogues that need to be reformed. With a wonderful household! It's a simple and elegant story, told in a way only a masterful storyteller could tell. I can't wait to read the next one!

I loved this book from the moment I opened it. This book made me laugh so hard sometimes that while I was reading in bed, I had to belly laugh quietly (which is hard to do) so I wouldn't wake the hubby. Loved, Loved, loved this book!
