Brandon Mull has done it YET again! (I love this author) The third installment of the Fablehaven series. It just keeps getting better.
Kendra is gone from Fablehaven for alot of the book with Warren on a mission where her abilities as being fairykind come in handy. There is...a boy? Yes, Gavin. We love Gavin. Dragon slayer, expert at using crap weapons to defeat people, what is NOT to love about Gavin? Vanessa is here as is the Sphinx who may/may not be the world's biggest two faced person ne...more

YAY!!! It's finally here. Actually it came on the 22nd through the mail, but I gave it to Carl for his B-day so he didn't open it until the 27th. And so, since he is still reading the Dark Materials Trilogy. he told me I could read this before him. Really, he's mine ladies, I found him first!
Whew, just finished the book last night. Of course they were not able to wrap everything up in this one book, so now I have to wait for the next one. Well, at least it has a title already, so it can...more

I've said this before, but Brandon Mull has the most creative imagination! I especially love how through all the action and creativity, there are real lessons to learn about morals and values. Evil and darkness are "contagious" in real life too! I really connect with Kendra - I understood especially when she thought that every victory or defeat is always followed by new worries and new problems. My favorite part though, has to be the love story between Patton and Lena. In this boo...more

I was fortunate enough to receive this book before it's release date and devoured it in one night. Readers new to the series would enjoy it without feeling lost by not having read the first two (but I wager it will make new readers want to read the first two books after finishing this one) and the story line was fresh and fascinating for readers who have enjoyed the exploits of Kendra and Seth from the first two books.

This series, in my opinion, has the most potential to follow Harry Potter. They aren't the same, but in the fantasy category I think these books will do really well. I enjoyed it tremendously. A little dark, some death, suspenseful, witty, and well written.
I've heard complaints that he uses big words, so it isn't written appropriately for the age group, but I think the big words will expand vocabularies, so people should just stop complaining. Buy a dictionary if that's the case. Ok, ...more

WOW -- he did it again -- except this time was even better. This book is seriously an adventure from the frist page to the last. I made myself put it down so that I could make it last more than one long, unslept night. I think his writing was a little more descriptive in this book, which I really enjoyed. He is already working on book 4, which I can't wait to read! Man, I hated waiting for Harry Potter books, and I hate waiting for Twilight -- now I have to wait for Fablehaven, too! Guess ...more

Who needs mundanity? Is it not the possibility of theextramundane that motivates life? As with the other books in the Fablehaven series, Grip of the Shadow Plague awakens the oft-neglected, adventure-seeking boy that is the foundation of my soul. A simple adventure can provide such a refreshing escape from the tedium of perceived reality. Fablehaven is just such a pleasant escape, albeit regrettably short-lived.

[close] The 3rd installment of the Fablehaven series is a well-crafted adventure back into the preserve where fairies, satyrs and golems roam. In this book we even meet dragons and centaurs! I love that my daughter and I fight over the book in our spare time until one of us finishes. I love that both of us enjoy it and can talk about it later. I love that there is a moral to the story and situations that our kids really face, and I like how the characters respond to the choices placed before the...more

I like the story and how descriptive and imaginative this world is, but I also think that they're just a little simple. Unlike some children's/young adult novels where I get so involved in the story and forget the target audience, these ones lack something that really make me get lost in the story.
I like the moral issues he brings up about obedience and people's choices. I think it's well done, but like I said it's missing a little something.

WoW! I really like this series. This book starts out just as quickly as the 2nd book and the pace keeps up. The characters run into a lot more serious situations, and like the Harry Potter series, this book is darker and more dangerous than the first two. There are some really great plot twists and the return of old characters and some new! Kendra learns more about being fairy kind, and Seth finds out he has some powers of his own.

I did not enjoy this book as much as the other two. In this book, Kendra and Seth were seperated for most of the book. Kendra went to another sanctuary while Seth stayed at Fablehaven. I think their interactions with each other and the characters around them are what make the books so enjoyable. Because the two children were seperated, the book kept jumping between the two children's stories, which got irritating at times.

I really love the Fablehaven series. Did you know that the main character, Kendra is named after Camellia's SIL? Can one of you please write a book and name the main character Janelle? Oh and make it good, I'd hate to have my namesake be a bomb. I'd write my own book and have a heroine named Janelle, but that would just be pompous now wouldn't it.
I really hope only my friends read my reviews..... :)

Fabulous book! The best of the series! The story lines and characters are getting deeper and much more interesting! It's a little bit darker than the previous two, but still appropriate for a middle reader level. I love the new characters in this book and I can't wait for the forth! Not just for kids--any adult would love to read this book!

I am a big fan of this series, but this installment was a tad disappointing. Kind of like the typical book 2 in a trilogy, but this time it's book 3 in a series of ? . That said, it is action packed and will appeal to kids who like the series. I think that Fablehaven is a natural next step for kids 4th grade and above who like Spiderwick.

These books are exciting, and, as Elicia pointed out, they teach a valuable lesson about following the rules. It is pretty much a battle of light and dark, but the charaters are intersting and likeable. I am already looking forward to the next one...I hate starting a series before it is finished being written. I don't like to wait!

I got this one the day it came out, and it was well worth the wait. It's exciting to walk around campus and have kids from 5th-8th grade run up and ask how far I am in the book, and let me know how much they're loving it.

This book was amazing! I found it better than the previous two which were also amazing. I thought it was way cool how the characters got to visit a different preserve and see new creatures like dragons and zombies. It was also much darker than the other two and that was great. The story was entirely satisfying to me.

The reason this is on my "to be read" list is because I can't get the book away from my husband and daughter. It was just released. My husband has finished it and said it was as good as the other two. Now my daughter has it... Brandon Mull, the author, is coming to her school to talk to the kids about his new book.

""Then I'm going?" Kendra asked.
The adults in the room exchanged tacit glances before nodding.
"Then we only have one more problem left to discuss," Seth said.
