Imani all mine is a very good, emotional book. This book is about a fourteen year old girl and her struggles to raise a newborn while still maintaing school and her daily life. Imani is Tashas daughter. Tasha was raped and never told anyone because she was ashamed so she just tries to avoid what she calls the man "him". I picked this book up because it's set in Buffalo, NY, which is where I live, and I was rewarded with a lot of references to local places (many of which have sadly closed or deteriorated in the years since this book was written). I found it to be a very depressing story overall with a few uplifting moments, but it was worth reading for me because I felt like it was probably a pretty realistic portrayal of what life would be like for a girl in Tasha's situation. Such a poetic and yet simplistic force that was far more than what the book description says.
While the title reads true, and the bulk of this story is dramatically centered around Imani, the infant of a child-mom, this story reached deep into the mind and heart of Tasha Dawson, her mother. This book is Phenomenal!! It had a real serious topic that is never really talked about cause it doesn’t really happen to often. This book is so great. It gives you a different perspective of life, like if you are a teen mother you can know that there are other people out there and that your are not alone in this world. I just got done reading Imani All Mine by Connie Rose porter. It was probably one of the strongest books I have read in a long time. It is about a young teenage girl who finds out she is pregnant. Throughout the book, you will follow Tasha and her baby, and find out what she has to go through. This is a very strong book and it has some very detailed scenes in it, so if you are planning on reading it that is just a warning. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes to read books...more

I read this book back when I was in high school.(not for school though) and I though it was a beautiful written story about a young mother. It dealt with real life issues of being a teen mom. It was a love story between a mother and daughter and I loved the break from the boy meets girl stories.
A story that takes you into the projects, into motherhood, into parent-child relationships. I found the first-person character very compelling, and Porter drew me quickly into her world. A reminder that life can be both joyful and painful at once, and that love is complicated.
This book was really good. I first saw this book when I saw it at Amazon.com and I got a sneak peek or whatever. When I was reading it then, I was like, "What is she saying? She has the worse grammar! I thought it was just another one of those books that was trying to hard to relate to black people by using slang and stuff. In the beginning the book tends to take a long time getting to anything that may interest me. Then as soon as I was going to put it down I takes a tragic turn in which the book brought me to tears. I recommend this book to any body who enjoys a good cry
Another Adolescent Lit book. Told from the perspective of Tasha, a high school freshman who gave birth in 8th grade and is now raising her daughter while staying in school. Beautifully told but disheartening look at poverty, race, and violence. Tasha has a powerful and insightful voice.

This book sent me through and emotional roller coaster. At times I was happy and there were times I felt like crying. my overall rating on Imani All Mine was a 9/10.

I loved this book. It was just good from beginning to end. I read it in two days last year. I would really recommend this book to a friend.
