Imani all mine is a very good, emotional book. This book is about a fourteen year old girl and her struggles to raise a newborn while still maintaing school and her daily life. Imani is Tashas daughter. Tasha was raped and never told anyone because she was ashamed so she just tries to avoid what she calls the man "him". Throughout the book you see how Tasha's mother is very strong worded and doesn't show the love and affection towards Tasha. This book is definitely for someone who likes a good d...more
I picked this book up because it's set in Buffalo, NY, which is where I live, and I was rewarded with a lot of references to local places (many of which have sadly closed or deteriorated in the years since this book was written). I found it to be a very depressing story overall with a few uplifting moments, but it was worth reading for me because I felt like it was probably a pretty realistic portrayal of what life would be like for a girl in Tasha's situation. I have little to no first-hand exp...more
Imani All Mine is about a teenaged girl named Tasha. They book talks about her life and how she's a single mother raising ger daughter Imani, a product of rape. Being a 15 year old single mother is no easy task. Tasha survives off of the love she and her daughter shares. Though she has Imani, Tasha remains in school and does what she's suppose to. She doesn't have much help from her mother but there's a roof over her head.In this book Tasha loses her only love. As the say goes "There's to have l...more
hhhmmm...maybe i need to go back and read this one again. i'm really surprised it has so many good reviews. i read it probably 10 years ago, at the suggestion of someone who was impressed that i was into books (condescending) and figured it would be a good one for me to read since i would be able to identify with the main character (did i mention this person was condescending?!). i was a teen mom, tasha (the main character) is a teen mom. the similarities started and ended there. i remember read...more

I sit here stunned after completing this book.
Such a poetic and yet simplistic force that was far more than what the book description says.
While the title reads true, and the bulk of this story is dramatically centered around Imani, the infant of a child-mom, this story reached deep into the mind and heart of Tasha Dawson, her mother. Tasha is a fourteen year old who lives in what I consider any urban location, where drugs, violence, and harsh reality interfere with the simple acts of growing u...more

They all think she is a teenage mother because she is just too grown and manish. Tasha never told anyone that she was pregnant because she was raped, she was afraid they would all just laugh and think she was stupid or would'nt beleive her.But Even though people mad...more
Imani All Mine was named as a BCALA [Black Caucus of the American Library Association] Honor Book for 1999. It is the story of a 15-yr old black female -- a bit on the heavy side -- who is raped and has a child. Tasha lives in the "ghetto", a life of poverty with the accompanying problems of drug dealing, etc. Yet, she knows her mother loves her but does not tell her mother that her daughter, Imani, is a result of rape. Tasha is a straight A student, despite the fact that she speaks entirely in...more

This book is Phenomenal!! It had a real serious topic that is never really talked about cause it doesn’t really happen to often. The serious topic I’m talking about happens to be about interracial relationship. IN my book the relationship was between a white girl n her teen and a black boy named Jeremiah. It was a real interesting book a pg turner I couldn’t put this book down not even for 2 minutes. Well Miah and the girl learn to fall in love with each other from the 1st time there eyes meet...more
This book is so great. It gives you a different perspective of life, like if you are a teen mother you can know that there are other people out there and that your are not alone in this world. If you have dealt with loss especially when someone young dies you can read this book. Tasha is a 14 year old girl who got pregnant while she is in High School. She was raped but no one new that. Tasha look very grown for her age but she was a kid at heart, but not to the arrogant boys out there. Tasha the...more
This book was okay. Some parts of this book was sort of boring to be but i read my way through it, but other parts would get me into the book. the character that stood out to me the most is Tasha who is a 14 year old girl and had a baby and through out the book she struggles to raise this baby on her own in a bad neighborhood. the reason this character stood out to me is because she tries very hard to raise this baby, and a mother at age 14 doing this sort of stuff has to be tough i mean i cant...more

I just got done reading Imani All Mine by Connie Rose porter. It was probably one of the strongest books I have read in a long time. It is about a young teenage girl who finds out she is pregnant. Throughout the book, you will follow Tasha and her baby, and find out what she has to go through. This is a very strong book and it has some very detailed scenes in it, so if you are planning on reading it that is just a warning. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes to read books...more

Tasha had a pregnancy that was not planned lost most teens. She had baby by a teenage boy who she thought she could trust and love. But she kept her pregnancy quiet because she was ashamed. Once the baby is born, Tasha falls in...more
This book was really good. I first saw this book when I saw it at Amazon.com and I got a sneak peek or whatever. When I was reading it then, I was like, "What is she saying? She has the worse grammar! I thought it was just another one of those books that was trying to hard to relate to black people by using slang and stuff. Then, about 2 weeks ago I checked the book out. i didn't really have anything else to read, you know, whatever? Turns out, to be one of the best books I ever read. And it's n...more
Oh my goodness! Best book I've read in a while! Imani All Mine by Connie Rose Porter is about a teenage girl named Tasha who got pregnant, and had a baby girl named Imani which means faith. Throughout the book, it talks about her experiences with having Imani, and living in a world full of poverty and living in a world of welfare. When I was reading it I really wanted to punch her mother because of the way she treated Tasha. This book really changed the way that I think about life, and I'm very...more
