I liked this book. Of course, it is written by one of my favorite authors. It was published in 2006. Came out about Christmas Time. As the book jacket says, ". . . a yuletide yarn full of light celebration and dark mischief". It's only 198 pages long. There are 3 other books in what is termed as AP's Christmas novels: A Christmas Journey, A Christmas Visitor, and A Christmas Guest. A Christmas Secret is a small book, 7 1/2 by 5 1/2. This is a fun, well written book. Anne Perry is a bestseller author and I can see why. It is like a Jane Austin (not quite as detailed) but only a mystery. Not gorey or violent but interesting and suspenseful, intriguing storyline/characters. I learned about the life of a Vicar in 19th century England, no easy job, sort of like a mormon Bishop with no ward council. Anyway, would really recommend it for a light, quick, entertaining captivating read!

Of Perry's Christmas mysteries, this is the one that I enjoyed the most--which isn't saying much. A few more red herrings, better character development, and a much better attempt at setting set it apart from her others.
Still, I think that if Perry wishes to truly live up to her considerable talent, she should try for a full-length Christmas mystery.

This was a picture postcard book, part of a series of Christmas books by Anne Perry. It succeeded in taking me to a wintry, picturesque, 1890s village in England, and the end surprised me. But I couldn't tell most of the characters apart because they were cut from the same cardboard. It didn't make me want to ready any more books by Anne Perry.

First of Anne Perry's books. I enjoy her writing style, simple yet descriptive. A weak ending, but a good read nontheless.

Well, no one
This was very disappointing compared to Anne Perry's other novels, lacking both depth and nuance.

This was a nice, short seasonal mystery.
