Beach Road is the latest collaboration between James Patterson and Peter de Jonge. They wrote Miracle on the 17th Green years ago and one of my prized possessions is a copy of the book, autographed by Patterson when I met him in my bookselling days. Really nice guy.

This book totally rules...
much the way it rules when you are in the mood to channel surf and you happen upon a special presentation of some crappy lawyer drama from the late 90's and you go "sweet...there goes the next two hours...brain? off."
I couldn't help cracking up at James Patterson's writing. So many shout-outs! He is so hip and now! Williamsburg junkies in vintage sneakers! Parties at Steven Spielberg's house! Sudden, random and completely out of place raunchy sex stuff!

Had nothing to read over the weekend, so I picked this up from a pile of books people had left at my place or given to me. I suppose I can't trash it TOO badly since I read the entire thing (then again, given the length not an accomplishment to brag about.)

A quick read. A decent page turner. Typical Patterson with twists and hooks. However, the ending, for me, was from leftfield. Not that this was a bad thing. It's just that I felt like the story could have developed a little more to get to that point. It seemed sort of sudden. Plus, I didn't really understand why the character Connie Rainborne wasn't developed a little bit more. Maybe Patterson wanted to pump this one out to meet a deadline or something.

From all that I had heard of this book I was excited about reading it.
It was a different read... every chapter was someone else's point of view. That was hard to get used to at first, but it was well written and kept my attention.
Until the end.
I was very unhappy with the end. It felt like to me, that the author just threw it in there..
The fact that it was a bad ending... thats always a turn-off for me. Things don't always have to end happily ever after, but this ending really sucked....more

Just brain candy, and not even all that good. A super quick read (with chapters that are usually a page and a half!). A lot of the story is really left out and skipped over. It's partly intentional, to throw you off, and partly just pure laziness. The more books James Patterson "writes", the worse they get. Some of his earlier books are better, but he's never been a great writer. But, if you're looking for a lazy weekend read, when you don't want to use your brain, I guess he fits the

Another page turner by James Patterson. This is a good murder mystery w/ a shocking twist at the end. The setting is East Hampton NY, very affluent neighborhood. 3 young men are found dead w/ shotgun wounds in their head. A young black aspiring NBA stare , Dante, is charged with the crime, but Dante has been so behaved his entire life b/c he never wanted to jeopardize his NBA dreams. Could he really do this? A local friend/lawyer of Dante takes the case to set him free.

i would never read the best seller trash on my own but someone had it and I had nothing else to read. Unbelievably bad. might be the worst book I've ever read. who decidedes that this is what people should buy? complete absense of writing style, real characters, or plot. the whole book hinges on a twist that does nothing to explain or payoff anything that happened anywhere else and is completely unsupported by the events of the story. just awful.

Got frustrated and gave up at about page 115. I may go back later but the characters were acting too stupid for me. I mean, is it just me or if you were suspected of a triple homicide, wouldn't you think it would be best to come forward and prove your innocence rather than hiding out for a couple weeks and expecting to be cleared automatically? Just running away from cops in the first place automatically makes them think you've done something. Fucking idiots.

Ok, so this was my first book by this man, and i was very surprised to enjoy it. I listened to it on an audio CD - narrated by Billy Baldwin as Tom Dunleavy, and let me tell you, if you think the Baldwin Brother collective "voice" isn't unmistakable, you should listen to this CD. The plot's twists and turns are engaging, it's a great one to listen to on the road because it keeps you going. I'd try another book on CD by this guy - - - good road food.

There's something about Patterson's books that are set in the exclusive Hamptons that gets me everytime. This is a perfect "beach book" for vacations and a great break from more sericous books. A bit different of a writing style for him and the surprise ending makes you think that he may have rushed this one a bit since the ending doesn't make much sense and is explained even less.

Yesterday, I finished reading one of James Patterson's newer titles: Beach Road
This is not part of his Alex Cross or Women's Murder Club series. However, if you read The Beach House, they are somewhat similar in that they are both crime stories set in The Hamptons.
It was a good book and I would recommend it. It has a nice twist toward the end which is always fun

If you like James Patterson, you'll love this book. The main character, Tom, is a lawyer somewhere in the Hamptons. There is a triple homicide that occurs in town, and one of Tom's friends is tried for the crime...ride along on this OUTRAGEOUS thrill of a book. Be prepared for one of the biggest shocker endings of all time!!!!!!!

My husband and I listened to this book on the way to pick up our kids from camp. It was a good suspense book with some nice plot twists, but it was overall forgettable. I would say "Beach Road" is a good "Beach Read." Not something that is going to stick with you, but will entertain you, kind of like watching a sitcom.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery novels because that is practically what James Patterson's books are they are mystery mixed with romance and this is so amazing how much he can put into all of his novels they are just amazing

I started this on vacation, and at halfway through, I'm really wondering who did it! The first chapter turned me off a bit (not sure why) but the subsequent chapters are captivating. I recommend this as a good light read. Patterson is iffy at times, but his co-writer seems to make up for it.
