I read this book when I was in high school and loved it. I read it again in anticipation of passing it on to my 10 year old son. I enjoyed it just as much this time. A great book.

This old fashioned survival story was a childhood favorite of mine. Paul starts out on this school backpacking trip thinking that he a a "loser" since he is not good at sports, etc. At the end of the survival trip, even though he gets lost in the deep NH wilderness for many days, he ends up learning to believe in himself. A fine journey towards self-reliance and finding oneself.
