Chloe Rand seems to have the perfect life. She's about to start her junior year of high school, she has a great boyfriend and a close group of girlfriends, and she's incredibly gorgeous. But when her boyfriend moves across the country, dumping her at the airport right before he leaves, everything seems to fall apart.

Now Chloe realizes that being a stunningly beautiful, suddenly single girl at high school isn't easy. Guys aren't su...more

I read this book, then read the review from when I added this book to goodreads, and went, "HUH??? Was I on heavy medication when I wrote this?" Previously, I had written that it's about a beautiful girl who falls in love with her math tutor. Ummm... try again, Sara!

So, what this book is about is a girl named Chloe, who is really beautiful and people make judgments about her based on that: that she's snotty, thinks she's too good for other people, etc., when in REALITY, s...more

How cute is that cover? It is so playful and perfect for a young adult read! I was looking for a quick read when I came across this book on my bookshelf. These Simon Pulse Romantic Comedy line of books remind me of a Harlequin nook geared for teens. They are predictable, a fun romance and characters that are fun.

While I have read many books where the teen is the ugly duckling of the school, this is a first for me where we get to read from the beautiful and popular girls perspe...more

I really really liked this story. It's definitely more of a four and half. What I thought at first would be vapid and silly turned into something a little deeper. I mean, it's not East of Eden deep but it has a great message.

What is that message? That while being in love is one of the most fantastic things in this world and being pretty is a good thing, what's more important is to be liked for who we are inside and that we remember the importance of friends.

Scary Beautiful is...more

I hated this book! Don't read it if you can help it. I actually started reading it because I was bored, and had nothing else left to do. It is really all about a topic that is so trivial and non-relevant I am astonished at how someone can enjoy it. The whole plot is about how a girl named Chloe is so beautiful but her boyfriend dumps her and she ends up falling in love with another guy and fighting with her friends. In the ends she makes up and everyone lives happily ever after. Who cares?? It l...more

What I notice about the author is that he makes the girl feel good about herself.
I think that really is a great book to help a person feel good about themselves .I defiantly advice this book if your really down about
Something in your life and once again this book is about a girl that wanted to make a change in her life and in her. That it has a wonderful ending this is also a good book if you’re the person to like things in the book to pop and be shocked about

This is your basic 'girl breaks up with boyfriend and finds new guy in unlikely place' scenario. The thing that makes it different is the twist that the girl is apparently so beautiful that everyone is either threatened or intimidated by her. The story doesn't really conclude and there are some really unlikable characters in it. The entire novel just seems to be a bad message for readers.

I read a number of the novels published by the Simon Pulse imprint last year, and I'd have to say that I still like Niki Burnham's the best. Scary Beautiful felt like the right level of fun combined with reasonably accurate as far as how catty high school girls can be to each other. Plus, I'm a sucker for a cheesy teen romance.

Different. Intriguing because of it. But still formulaic enough that it didn't tick me off by writing outside it's advertised genre. Liked the part about track too. And nerds being awesome. And girls being insane. Guess I felt some personal touches in this one that were closer emotionally to me...

I think this book was a good teen romance story. It had some funny parts and some parts made me sad. The teens in the story were easy to relate to and were not boring like in some stories.

This is definitely on par with the Simon Romantic Comedies line. It's cute, sweet, deeper than you might think without being too deep, and and enjoyable way to spend a Saturday.

Pleasant short read to get away for a few hours. No real depth, a little drama and emotion. Liked it well enough.

This book was just a fun, light read. I love these cheezy teen romances. They can be so funny.

i like this funny comedy because this book basically gives off the message that looks aren't everything. in this book, Chole, a popular girl in shcool and also teh prettiest girl, broke up with her popular boyfriend and immmediatly becomes teh rival of all the other girls and also her friends. she soon discovers from teh nerd of teh scooh, Peter that looks are not ever as important as everything else becasue it's about being who you are that really counts. in teh end, Chole learn so much more ab...more

I give it a three because I was so happy to finally be done with Wild Swans and read something light and fast. This book took less than 3 hours, so it fulfilled both those requirements. It was an okay story, but not the greatest. Also, it had too much profanity for me (ie. more than one word). If you have nothing else to read and want a mindless teenage romance, this book is for you.

Chloe is gorgeous and she always gets comments about her beauty. It embarrases her and she wishes people wouldn't judge her on her beauty. When Sean her boyfriend for 2 1/2 years moves 2,000 miles away he decides to call things off. Now Chloe is discovering the person that she really is.

Chloe is a very likable character. I was annoyed with her friends. The book was enjoyable.

i found this book a little clique. Its your typical teen tv drama kind of book, thats why i gave it 3 stars. It had nice twist in it though but it was pretty exaggerated, like how the main girl was the girl that all the guys want because she's beautiful and nice. The character felt a little like a pain in the butt and unrealistic but all in all it was a entertaining read.

Recommends it for: People who have a knack of silly/fun romance novels.
It shows how pretty popular girls break up in a relationship with the whole "jock" popular guy, & the girls realizes that she's in love with a "nerd." I loved the whole plot and how her friends were falling for different popular guys, and she's into someone quite unique. :)

I haven't read one of the romantic comeddies in awhile, and this was a good book to go back to. A happy ending of course.
