This paperback book uses bright colours and large beautiful illustrations that cover whole pages. It is a big book that allows it to be used easily as a read-aloud book.
The first page of the book offers young minds the opportunity to think about and answer the question, "look at all this mess! What can we do with it?
Each page after this highlights a different piece of machinery that may be able to clear up the mess. Through the use of repetition on each seperate page, young children are encourag...more

Very good book used in the nursery on SEB. It has repetative words, and goes into the use of the transport vehicles as to what they do and how. Best of all the end result of the vehicles, diggers, truck, road rollers etc all work together to make the new adventure playground, the children really liked this and talked about what they could see if the playgroud. Which also helps with CLL. Read the book on day too and we used BIG ARM movements to describe what which vehicles can do ie Digger DIg DIG...more
I read this book to my foster children tonight before they went to bed. I'm sad to say that the book didn't catch their attention. It wasn't a horrible book, but it wasn't the best book either. My foster son, who is nearing three years old, has a love for vehicles of any sort, and he had no interest in "Tip Tip Dig Dig". And the illustrations weren't the best either. I'll be returning this book to the library soon.
I think this is an absolutely great book for any early years setting. The repetition along with the simple cvc words makes this a great resource for children to practice their reading as well as following the story with a peer or adult and re telling the story using the words they know and previous knowledge of the book. I would use this book as a guided reading task for children to reception aged 5-6
Tip Tip Dig Dig is a fun story about different types of trucks coming together to clean up a mess and work on something special. The size of the book, illustrations, and colors along with the size fonts and descriptions brings about enjoyment and fun for young preschool story time audiences and truck fans. What an enjoyable story, especially the ending!
This book is perfect for toddlers because it features lots of bright colors, it's got nice large pictures, and it features the big construction equipment that fascinates them. More a gallery of equipment and sounds than a story book.
Great, very bright art.
Would definitely work for a lapsit or toddler story time, with lots of opportunities for sounds.

This summer a house down the street was getting some fill dirt delivered to their back yard. My son and I sat for half an hour watching the dump truck tip the dirt and the digger move the dirt around. Tip Tip Dig Dig was a great read to follow up with after watching the heavy equipment at work. Corbin Still loves this book.
Who knew this book would be the hit it was?? The repetitive words are also action words, so the children and their moms got into this book big time, moving their arms and hands with the motions. At the end of the book one of the boys walked straight to get a good look at what all the machines had built. Very cute.
A fun book with big pictures of various construction vehicles. Children will enjoy the opportunity to make actions and noises to go along with the big vehicles; digger, mixer, crane, tipper truck, bulldozer, road roller. Each vehicle makes 2 further appearances to remind kids of the job that each one does.
Wonderful. I was looking for an action book for the toddler group. This came in on the new cart. And the boys in my toddler group love the trucks and such.
6/29/10 & 7/1/10 The Tue. group liked this one all right. The Thu. group was so small, it was hard to gauge. So overall it wasn't as great as I thought it to be, but it worked.

Describes how various earthmoving trucks clean up a dump and make a playground, discussing what such machines as diggers, mixers, bulldozers, and cranes can do. www.hcpl.net
Natalie really enjoys toot Toot Beep Beep by the same author, so I got her other two books out. This one has fewer vehicles, so you see each of them more. It also focuses more on what each of them does. I really like this artwork style for the vehicles, but not so much for the picture of the park at the end.
