Scaredy returns in his third book that follows the same wonderful theme as the first two. Though Scaredy would love to go to the beach there are so many wrong crowds that he could be surrounded by that he doesn't think it's wise. So Scaredy creates a beach of his own using an inflatable pool and kitty litter. But something is missing - the sounds are all wrong. i've said it before. i'll say it again. i loves me some scaredy squirrel. at this point, it seems as if the series is following a formula: fears, plan, map, equipment. and that's ok. because the formula is brilliant. the story makes me snicker, as ever. there's a vague moral that's a little less vague in this book. one thing i must protest, though, is that groups of jellyfish are not called tribes. they're called smacks. and that is so cool it must be recognized. otherwise, it's a fun...more

I cannot explain how much I love the Scaredy Squirrel Books. Yes, they are formulaic but, just like Law and Order, they are really enjoyable.
In this book, Scaredy sets out on a quest for the beach and finds himself surrounded by a crowd of people (if you look closely--you can even spot the Dog--from Scaredy's previous book).

This series is definitely growing on me. These are NOT toddler books--they won't get one iota of what's going on here--but school age kids will have a blast with this one, just as they will with the other two titles, and my guess is that there's more to come.

Scaredy Squirrel just keeps getting better and better. This time he goes to the beach where there are people! Very scary for a squirrel who doesn't like anything or anyone coming in contact with him.
