Is it love, or just a little harmless sex? Book one in the Harmless series.
Max has always been Anna's knight in shining armor. But Max has always seen her as a charming, and very sexy, little sister.

Until Max's cold fiance dumps him, Anna unloads another of her many conquests and she invites him over for margaritas and Mexican food. Too much tequila, too much flirting, and...more

I really enjoyed this book! It was fun and sexy, however it also had a good story line, along with some smokin chemistry between the two main characters; Max and Anna.

Max and Anna are best friends... everyone thinks they are perfect for each other, except themselves. Anna secretly thinks Max is hot, and Max has always had the hots for Anna, but they are always seeing other people. All that changes when they both break up with their significant others at the same time. When they decided to cons...more

Another solid romantica/erotica novel (although rather short) from Shiloh Walker, "A Little Harmless Sex" is a story about two best friends who become lovers.

Max knows everything about Anna. They've been friends since she broke his nose at age six. Although he's had a few hot fantasies about her, he feels uncomfortable lusting after someone he thinks he should see as a little sister. When his fiance dumps him and he only feels relief, he and Anna get together for a night of commiseration.

How was the Sexy? The sexy sizzled! It was HOT HOT HOT. It did not feel cheap or forced. In fact it held all those qualities that made it sweet and sweaty at the same exact time. The chemistry between Anna and Max was off the charts and kept you wanting them to get together more.

How was the Story? The story is what I really loved about this book. It was a full-fledged love story of the best kind! They were two people made for each other and I liked that the guy is the one who figured it out firs...more

I have mixed feels about this one. It started out really good for me. Anna the free spirited small business owner is someone I admire. The fact that she doesn't have serious relationships totally makes sense. Given her past experience with Freddy the F-head, I can understand. Max is pretty hot. His drive and all together control is something I like too. The fact that they are best friends who fall for each other, very sweet and up my alley. The first third of the book was dead on for me. From th...more

As a fledgling romantica reader I'm thinking I'm going to have to wade through a bit of mediocre smut in order to find the good stuff.

This book is more the former than the latter.

The story here is one of long-time friends finally acting on feelings that have been there for years. Normally I love this trope and there was potential here for this to be a really good read. Unfortunately, I didn't feel like the author had the chops to carry it off. Some of the characters and their purpose in the boo...more

I felt like a little more time spent with the characters outside of the bedroom (or office, kitchen, living room - wherever they were having sex) would have allowed me to relate to them a bit more.

There were parts of the story that didn't just flow, it felt like it was inorganic to the characters, and I would have liked to seen more so I could connect with them.

There were a couple of times I wanted to smack the characters upside the head for their assumptions, but I was pleased that they fairly...more

Really enjoyed this one! I'm a sucker for a friends-to-lovers romance and this had all of the things I enjoy and nothing that I don't. Great characters, lots of dialogue, very steamy & romantic, no major fighting/trust issues, HEA. I had to read it straight through because I desperately needed to constantly know what was going to happen next.

I could start my review off by telling how much Melissa Schroeder is like this fabulous author or that fantastic author, but I won't. I will tell you that her style is completely unique. My friend Michelle from Romance In Review sang Ms. Schroeder's praises for the longest time, telling me how addictive they were. Finally, when I had some reading time that wasn't for blog tour books, she loaned me the first three books, which includes A Little Harmless Sex. When I started reading it, Lord help m...more

What was supposed to be a night of a little harmless sex, turns out to be anything but.

Anna has known Max for years. They've always each other's shoulder to cry on. She's had a crush on him for years, but he has always seen her a s a little sister. At least he did until she graduated from college and came home looking all womanly. He and his fiancee have just ended their engagement, and Anna has just broken up with an overly emotional artist. For the first time they are both without significant...more

Friends-to-lovers that didn't really work for me. I liked the setup and the initial sexual tension; the premise is that they've both been attracted to each other for years (unbeknownst to each other--you know the drill), but have never been single at the same time. Then his fiancee dumps him right when she gets rid of her boyfriend, and we have our initiating event. They have great sex, but she's reluctant to commit. Blah blah blah. I think the main problem for me was I didn't believe her commit...more

So much wrong with this book I don't even know where to start. If you took a shot every time the author used the word "turgid" (not sexy ever), you'd be drunk before the first third of the book was over. Breasts don't swell up unless lactation is involved. So much anatomy fail I wondered if the author had ever had sex before she wrote this. The main characters were supposedly high powered business owners, but they acted like spoiled children. Then there were the words that do not mean what the a...more

This was a great little contemporary with lots of hot sex. it started off with a bang and just kept delivering. The characters were believable and endearing, Max stuck to his guns and to his heart where Anna was concerned, allowing her to work through issues but not run away from them. He was a strong hero with good values when it came to women and business and that truly made him a believable and worthy hero for this romance.

Anna also stuck to her character, she didn't waffle and get all wishy...more

Okay...the title lies. There is no way you can describe the amount of sex in this book as "little". *snort* From the book description I expected a one night encounter to take them on a journey of connecting.

Well they had their one night...and then banged like bunnies for most of the book. I'd say we got 50% plot and 50% smex. I enjoyed it, and the sexy scenes were really hot. The author still did a couple of fade to black scenes. Damn these two had a lot of sexual frustration to work out.

Wow! I loved this book. This is the first book by author Melissa Schroeder that I have read and I will definitely be reading more of her books.

Maxwell Thurston and Anna Dewinter are best friends. When Max’s fiancée Cynthia Myers decides to call off their engagement, Anna invites Max over for margaritas and enchiladas. Anna, who has a thing for younger men, happens to break things off with her boyfriend Brad the same day. Anna feels Brad is taking their relationship a little bit...more

Wow! This book will get your motor running. The bedroom scenes are very hot and inviting as you could say! HA!

Max and Anna are best friends and have been for many years. Max is very straight laced. He likes everything in order. Anna is very outgoing and adventurous. She is a free spirit and the complete opposite of Max.

They have gone through lots of boyfriends and girlfriends, but never wi...more

This was my first book by this author. What did I like about the book: I liked the chemistry between Anna and Max. It was very believable and steamy! There was a good introduction of a few characters that I think will be coming up in future books. The setting is a small town and the female Anna has a very strong personality and has had a crush on Max for years.

What I didn’t like is the story seemed very rushed and there was no depth. I felt like the book was mostly smoking hot sex scenes with a...more

What can I say but thank goodness for Amazon Kindle free reads that allow me the genuine pleasure of finding a fast, fun, sexy book to devour in a day's reading!

I love the premise of two people who have been friends since very early childhood, been confidantes since early adulthood and at a certain point in their lives discover that those feeling have become something so much deeper and richer than mere friendship for one another!

Anna is a very liberated forthright 28 year old woman living in a...more

Soooooo good!!! I would have given 4.5 stars if I could have. It was very sensual and sexy.

Maxwell is a slightly uptight business man who just got dumped by his fiancé. He celebrates his freedom by going to his best friend, Anna's house. She is freespirited and a little bit promiscuous. After a dinner of mexican food and margaritas, they unleash the passion they've always had for each other. Max decides he wants her for keeps and has to convince her they are meant to be. The plan mostly works u...more

This was my first introduction to Melissa Schroeder and I loved it. I came across this series in a search and decided to give it a try and I am glad that I did. It is a devilishly good erotic story! Anna and Max have great chemistry and right off the bat you could tell they were meant for each other. They are best friends that have an affair with each other after becoming single again. Mix Margaritas and Tequila shots and you get best friends hot and steamy on the couch. They realize they have f...more

I gave it 3 stars...

I was very intrigued about this series and i heard a lot of good reviews.
It was just actually okay with me. I did not feel giggles over it.
Though some scenes are steamy and I really like plot. But it seems like everything happened so fast.
I mean, its lacking some steamy passion i'm lurking to find on this type of books.
I mean, I've read alot about this type of books and basically my standards are high and of course, I want to read books that has steamp hot scenes and I want t...more

Fast and sweetly naughty, this book was a fun little read. I loved the dynamic between Max and Anna, especially Anna's total aversion to committing herself to a man. The silly girl just couldn't see what was right in front of her.

Anna and Max were pretty darn explosive together. He knows it. She knows it. She just doesn't want to admit that he's managing to worm his way into her heart. His dominance in the bedroom coupled with her unwillingness to label them as a couple gave this book a little e...more

My Review:
Best friends turned lovers...You all know that this is one of my favorite story lines and this one did not disappoint. Anna & Max basically grew up together and have been best friends forever. About 10 years ago, that friendship developed into a different kind of awareness, but besides a single kiss, neither one has ever acted upon it. On paper, they are polar opposites. Max is a leader of the community,...more

Until Max's cold fiance dumps him, Anna unloads another of her many conquests and she invites him over for margaritas and Mexican food. Margaritas and Mexican turn into hot sex in Anna's living room.

Max is steady and committed and Anna is a commitment-phobe and a serial dater. They've always nursed secret crushes on each other for 10 years, when they fall into bed its hot...more

The story is what I really loved about this book. It was a full-fledged love story of the best kind!

Max Chandler and Anna Dewinter have always been the best of friends. While each have been secretly attracted to the other, they've never acted on that attraction - why mess with a great friendship and besides they've never both been free at the same time. When Max's fiancée breaks up with him and Anna breaks up with her boyfriend, they find themselves both free. Anna suggests a party at her place...more

A Little Harmless Sex is the first book in a HOT series of which I am looking forward to reading more.
Anna and Max are best friends that have known each other most of their lives. Although there is chemistry between them and they shared a kiss several years ago neither has explored the possibilities of what could be.
They find themselves single at the same time and during a tequila saturated evening they “go there”. Max knows this is right and wants to keep the relationship going on this path how...more

I like the previous books I’ve read by this author and I started off liking this book… Then not so much. I mean I liked it... but didn't LIKE it. The issue is that for these two to have been “best” friends and from the story telling doesn’t seem they really had any other friends in town; there was just WAY too much miscommunication on just basic things. I know even the most confident of people have moments of weakness… which was the case with the last 1/3 of the book for Anna. However for her to...more

The quintessential love story--best friends who have knows each other since childhood and who have been secretly attracted to one another for years. Both have commitment issues and yet somehow their relationship, with all its fears and ups and downs caused by an ex-fiance and former boyfriends, keeps on moving forward. Melissa Schroeder is one of my favorite authors and while most of what I have read of her previous work are novellas, I really like this longer work. Published several years ago,...more
