The book has ten essays on The Unconscious, Anxiety, Phantasy, Oedipus Complex, Guilt, Narcissism, Phobia, Eros, Libido, and Sublimation. They are all accessible to a layperson approaching psychoanalysis for the first time, and interesting to a reader with more knowledge and experience. My own interest is less in the therapy of psychoanalysis than the cultural dimensions of its application such as to the aesthetic, and morality.
