Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling
There’s a voice in the universe calling each of us to remember our purpose—our reason for being here now, in this world of impermanence. The voice whispers, shouts, and sings to us that this experience of being in form, in space and time, knowing life and death, has meaning. The voice is that of inspiration, which is within each and every one of us. In this groundbreaking...more

Inspiration is in spirit. What I got from this book is we can't have enimies because all people are form which will go away and doesn't matter. Spirit, which is your higher power, that I call God or Heavenly Father is in you. If you have an issue with a person you realize that it's his problem and your issue is just a thought. So go to the person's God spirit, the devine person that they are, and realize that you wouldn't have an issue with a loving, kind, all giving Heavenly Father. Also, reali...more
This book is pretty light on substance. It is interesting but falls short of the title's claim. Dyer celebrates of the existence of G_d. However, his eclectic appellation is overshadowed by flashes of self-promotion. Aside from a couple of interesting insights, the book lacks direction and falls short as a "how to" guide. The gist of Dyer's message is to ditch the, "woe is me" attitude and substitute it with the "Woah! it's me" mantra. Its a pretty fluffy book heavy on anecdote - more akin to to...more
Okay I'll be honest, I didn't finish reading this because someone at my house asked me where they could buy it so I gave it to them. BUT...I liked it so much that I'm going to buy another copy and I read enough to review it. I like some of Wayne's books, some not as much. This one I really resonated with as it is all about living your life via INSPIRATION...In Spirit...connected to God, Your Inner Being, Source. When you are/do, life flows, joy abounds and the ripple affect, the contribution we...more
yes. i read this book and it was quite different from what i expected. when i bought it, i wasn't aware that it was some sort of "self-help" book. i was drawn to the colors of the cover (the cover of the spanish version is beautiful)and the title. i didn't think it twice, and i bought it.
it was a surprise to me that the author is an important writer of self-help books, and i was about to throw up. but inspite of feeling embarrased and sick of having this book, i decided to read it, and all of a...more

This is an excellent book. In a nutshell if you stay aligned with your source creativity will flow through you effortlessly. On the other hand if you have the need to create and you do not allow this source to express itself through you it will result in being unfulfilled and unbalanced. According to Dyer, we are not human beings having a spiritual experience. Rather we are spiritual beings having a human experience. He delves into the nature of our being going so far as to say that birth is not...more
I have read many of Dyer's books and picked this up in the UMD library. I read it quickly because he repeats many thoughts and ideas of his previous books. BUT.....he equates Inspiration with Spirit and how we need to stay in touch with Spirit as well as the belief that we were with Spirit before we were born and will return to Spirit when we die. This I completely relate to and has been a purpose in my life. As he reminds us, it isn't always easy to be in harmony with spirit and follow Spirit a...more
A remarkable book that just opened my eyes to a higher calling. Dr. Dyer explains in common sense language the necessity to connect to our source, a universal name for God. When we think about what we want to do in life it's always important to remember that we already know the answer. When we connect to our Source we feel inspiration.

Excellent. I'm a firm believer in things turning out "on time" and "on purpose." I find my inspiration arrives when I'm not feeling rushed or tired. I love how it feels, to have wonderful ideas pop into my head at odd moments of the day, or to have events magically happen that are totally in line with my aspirations. I try to practice gratitude more and more every day, and get over funky moods sooner--no inspiring thoughts or events occur when I'm steamed about something! Gratitude, patience and...more
In this book, Dyer explains that to be inspired is to be "in spirit"--to be one with your source--God. He provides great personal examples and quotes from Rumi, Micheal Angelo, Albert Einstein and explains how to apply them to get to a state of inspiration from at which point--we create and live our best lives.
This is a great CD for listening to in the car or around the house. You will find Dyer's delivery and content will keep you engaged. I recommend this book for anyone who seek to be propel...more

This book was very powerful, and I feel I will be coming back to it often. What I like best about Dyer's writing style is that he brings the topic of inspiration down to a very basic level so that it doesn't seem so daunting, and give practical, easy ideas on how to implement inspiration in every day life. I think Ekhart Tolle was trying to convey this same message in The Power of Now, but his writing was SO deep that each and every sentence seemed too powerful to grasp. Dyer has achieved / expl...more
This books is indeed inspirational and truly motivational. Once I started reading it, I wasn't able to put it down, marveled at the beauty of Dr. Dyer's words captured in the pages of the book. When I finished it, I felt like a new, different, more capable being full of divine light and love. I understood how to deal with many matters that affect us all nowadays, and find the best ways to benefit my spirit from better, more positive perspectives on life. It is a masterpiece, and one of the best...more
This book was truly phenomenal!! I couldn't put it down and read the 252 page book in two days!! I feel so inspired and ready to put everything he says to work in my own life! I loved how there were "suggestions" at the end of each chapter to help you put the ideas from every chapter to work for you!! There was SO MANY quotes I adore and many truths I gained from this book...here are some that I positively loved!!

Love this book!
It's written in such a logical manner explaining something so complex -- Our ego vs our higher self. Highly recommended for those seeking spiritual enlightenment and wanting to learn about compassion. It's not just about being compassionate, but living it and breathing it.
The world would be an incredibly peaceful place if politicians and rulers thought and acted according to Wayne Dyer's teachings.
This book changed me and made such a positive impact on my life.

I really need this kind of inspiration today and every day. I want to develop the kind of "heightened sensitivity" that Dyer lauds, one that will allow me to "translate" the negative sensations that come my way into "behavior that's more giving and forgiving, extending assistance and cooperating with" others. The author encourages me to "discover a way of following (my) own instincts to be more in-Spirit and less in fear and anger" (37).
I suppose that I should not be allowed to critique self help books. I just seem to find much of what they say to be common sense all wrapped in a fancy little package. This one is no exception. The fellow is a good talker and his book is interesting, but not terribly different or more helpful than any other self help that is out there. Read it if you wish, if you like this sort of thing.....
There is charm in Dyer's personal stories of inspiring moments in his life, and he has come to be more and more open to intuition, and to the Divine speaking to him at all times. There's also nothing new in his good advice to stay open, to listen, and to look at our lives with an expectation of receiving inspiration. Life is good, says Dyer, and God is on our side. Right he is!
I have been reading books by Wayne Dyer for a very long time. This book is a good blend of some of his previous messages. Having said that I love that he reminds us to be inspired in everyday living. I also think his suggestions on how to live a life "in-spirit" instead of the ego were great.
If you are new to spiritual books I think this is a wonderful place to begin.

Not really sure what rating to give this book, somewhere btw 1-2 i guess. The author's message was not very convincing, and only slightly inspirational. I guess I expected too much with such a dramatic title. If it works for him, great, but it would have been nice if he could convey it better. He definitely interprets things in his own way.
I woke up at 2AM and Dyer was speaking and I was intrigued with what he had to say and caught myself watching him talk about how we can improve our inner self. How to find inner peace and to connect with spirit through prayer and meditation. A very spiritual book that I keep next to my bedside whenever I need to re-read it.

Een OK boek. Ik heb een aantal puntjes eruit op post-its genoteerd en las ongeveer de helft van alle zinnen toch wel met een soort van enthousiasme.
Maar geen I LIKE boek. Daarvoor was de vertaling gewoon te houterig. Te ongeïnspireerd. Struikelblokken op iedere pagina. Jammer voor een boek als dit.

I just "read" this book primarily on the subway for the past several weeks and having just joined Goodreads I thought of what to rate it several times throughout that time. I think Dyer is mostly right on the money spiritually but I really disagree with how he describes things occasionally and full concepts at times. Also, the style of the writing and the "reading" (Since I did this with the audio book) is not what I would generally recommend. However, overall, since I'm very interested in spirit...more
Two of the biggest lessoned I learned from a truly inspiring book:
page 198 On Healing - "reunited to a stream of well-being"
page 209 On Organized Religion - "Jesus wasn't a christian, divine spiritual beings came here as emissaries of truth"
page 218 On Letting Go - "Just close down the battlefield and surrender. Send the soldiers home, and replace the instruments of war in your mind with thoughts of peace, tranquility, and surrender. Making your mind a place of peace is achieved by YOUR OWN WILL...more
