I read the book Cinderella (as if you didn’t already know the story) by Barbara Ensor. The main characters are Cinderella, her stepmom and her stepsisters. The setting is in a village .the story’s conflict is that Cinderella’s father marries another woman. She becomes Cinderella’s stepmother and makes Cinderella do everything around the house. Cinderella’s father does not have time to notice, because of his work.

One thing that made me think more about what was happening in the book More...

Modern adaptation to a certain extent that just didn't work for me--with the exception of one paragraph on p. 106. It sums up what happens after Cinderella and the prince marry. I appreciate it for saying to young girls that marriage is work, but worth it and has the possibility of being very fulfilling. Of course, I don't think that I would have necessarily recognized it at nine, I'll admit.

"As day became weeks, and weeks became months, Cinderella and the prince discovered t More...

This is a cute story, a short, easy read, but I found it rather predictable. There wasn't much new added to the story; I've read a lot of fairy tale alternatives that add a unique take on a familiar tale, but for me, this one didn't. The prince's "insight" about his parents had potential, but then it went nowhere, and Cinderella's demand that her father and stepmother clean up after the pigs smacked of the "reeducation" of the professional classes that Asians despots instit More...

what i learn from this book was that if you want people to treat you like u want to be treated do it.
so, at the beggining the story was about cinderella was a nice girl and then she met a prince. but her stepsisters treat her really bad because they were really mean and not that pretty as cinderella.. so they treat cinderella really bad but then they are noticing that she was the one who met the prince so they notice and then they were crying pleasing cinderella to apologize them but what More...

Your basic Cinderella story told with modern language and silhouette illustrations. I read it in about 20 minutes. There were two new thoughts- 1st- The Prince liked Cinderella even more when he found out she wasn't royalty and all hoity-toity like his parents wanted him to be. 2nd- Cinderella's father doesn't die and her stepfamily is not as cruel as the typical version. Also she writes letters to her dead mother. Personally I wasn't too impressed.

Aku ga pernah suka Cinderella. gadis malang yang ditindas kedua kakak tiri dan ibu tirinya. blaaaah.
Menurutku itu sih "oon"

Kalo dia ditindas pas masih ada ayahnya sih oke, mungkin karena dia ga mau ayahnya kenapa-kenapa. Tapi kalo pas ayahnya tiada? hmmm hmmm -___-

Tapi buku yang ini lucu. Ini sebenernya masih cinderella juga. Cuma kisahnya dibikin lucu. Cara nyeritainnya lucu. ada ilustrasinya juga.
Dan karena udah tahu cerita cinderella kayak a More...

My daughter pulled this book off the bookstore shelf, probably because of the bright orange cover, and read it in an hour. So I picked it up in order that she and I might be able to talk about it later--it's one of the quickest reads of all time. I think it took me less than 45 minutes to get through.
Anyway, it's the re-telling of Cinderella from the original text, but in modern, very modern, language. I found the book entertaining, but all in all wouldn't recommend spending the money on t More...

This was an okay story. It set out high expectations, stating it would tell you information you've never heard before, give you those details that would make the story clearer. It did but not enough & it dropped the ball (no, not the 'prince meets Cinderella ball') too soon. Sadly I was disappointed with the promise this book held & didn't meet.

This book is a made up story about things you didnt know like Cinderella writes to her mom that died. It is very easy and i read it in one night. But it is very funny. It tells the whole story but in a different made up way with things that you didnt know. This book is great.

I feel like this book was advertised as a fresh new version of Cinderella, but it certainly did not seem to be. The only thing unique about it is that occasionally mixed in among the text are silhouette illustrations and handwritten letters from Cinderella to her late mother. Cinderella did not seem to be the protagonist I recognized or liked. She reminded me more of stepsister Olive from Ella Enchanted. Not my vision of Cinderella.

First book for our mom-daughter book club (3rd graders). Fun read, nice updated themes on old story. The girls liked it too and had much to say. Our older girl book club read it too when they were younger and enjoyed it.

My younger daughter read this one over and over last year after she got it from the book fair so wanted to check it out. Cute, easy chapter book telling Cinderella's story from her point of view. Good for 3rd-4th grade girls.

This book is a modern day version of the tradition Cinderella story. It uses present day language that children are familiar with. I would recommend this book for upper elementary and middle school students. It is a chapter book, but it is a very quick read. This book was hilarious and enjoyable. Readers can tell that this is a modern day story throughout the book with references to modern day things such as the prince’s favorite foods, which include steak and Jell-O with sprinkles. There i More...

This book was okay, they didnt really change anything in the story. The only reason I wanted to read this book was to see the extra stuff about the characters, but there wasn't any.

The best part is the last page that describes the endings of Cinderella tales from other cultures.
A juvenile book, but with interesting papercut artwork to illustrate.

This is a great read aloud to do while studying fairytales for younger kids. It has just the right amount of attitude. So cute.

Yes, I know the story, but I always enjoy a new version! This would be a good choice for young readers not quite ready for Ella Enchanted.
