When Tammy Rodrigue, known as Louisiana Sassy on the archery circuit, rolled into Bear Paw, Michigan, for the archery competition, Tournament of Trouble, she never expected to be considered a suspect in a murder investigation. Sure, the victim was killed via an arrow through his heart with the same white and pink fletches (feathers) like Tammy uses, but she had just come ...more

Fun read but has some flaws.

Tammy, whose moniker is "Louisiana Sassy", and her friend Dixie have come to Bear Paw, Michigan for an archery tournament. Before they can even find the town, these hapless Southern ladies run off a snowy road into a ditch; are pulled out by Daniel, the man to beat in the archery competition; and encounter a local Sheriff who is investigating a dead body in the woods. Turns out the deceased was shot with an arrow fletched with pink and white feathers, just like Tammy'

I really wanted to like this book. Lady archer heads to an archery competition when she really needs the money and people turn up dead? Awesome. Especially since it promised learning a bit about archery. The cajun cooking was just a list of random Cajun dishes. I expected some actual description of the food. Like using the five senses and more foodie-like descriptions. Or at least an attempt to? There was also no real subplot or B conflict (i know it's cozy mystery so i know not to expect much ...more

This was quite entertaining! I loved how the book began. It was different and, at least for me, set the tone of the entire book. A bit of humor, a mystery, some romance and a whole lot of enjoyment (is that even a word??). The characters were well developed, the storyline unusual and interesting. I've never been to an archery competition, but I think it would be fascinating. The book kept me entertained and wondering "what's next" until the very end. I have read at least one of Ms. Johns titles ...more

This is the second book I've read by Madison Johns, and although I didn't enjoy the first book, this one was much more my style. It was a fast, breezy read, and one that I enjoyed a lot. I read it in one day. The chapter breaks were perfect stopping points.

The story was one that I wouldn't normally read, but the characters were strong, believable and likable. I especially liked that this book had no instant romances that sprung up (at least not until the end.) And liked that the protagonist was

can't beat a cozy mystery

When Dixie and Tammy (aka) Louisiana Sassy arrived in snowy Michigan, from balmy Louisiana, they were on the heels of a murder. The Sheriff investigates them as suspects. Knowing they need to clear their names they join together with Margarita ( a local woman), and the search begins. To add to their search, Tammy is in town to compete in a bow and arrow competition, that she need to win in order to keep a roof over her head. This is a very cute story and I would read any

Tammy Rodrigue, also known as Lousiana Sassy, is a competition archer who, with her friend, has come to Bear Paw, MN to compete for a money prize that will keep her in the black for a while. THey encounter the obligatory dead body, and there will be another murder before this fairly short book is done. Does she win the competition? Will she fall for the attractive reigning archer?

Louisana Sassy

Tammy has won a lot competitions with her bow and arrow. She's just lost her job and needs this hefty prize money. She is a suspect for a time for the death of a local man who was shot with an arrow like the ones she uses.

Great new series

I love the new book and look forward to reading more in the series. Great characters. Love the connection to Eleanor. Maybe a crossover book will be in the future.

When Madison Johns began writing at the age of forty-four, she never imagined she'd make it onto the USA Today best-selling books list with her first cozy mystery, Armed and Outrageous, as an independent author. Sure, this book is an Amazon bestseller, but USA Today?

Although sleep-deprived from working third shift, she knew if she used what she had learned while caring for senior citizens to good
