This book was amazing. I learned so much, and, considering the topic, laughed a good deal. I found it especially interesting to read the views and experiences of "the other side", and there were many writers features whose full diaries I wish I could have explored.

An inconsistent collection of both military and civilian diary entries from 1665 to 1990. Some are very interesting some are rather boring. But is was fun to follow along each day; so it took me a year to read this book.

Some of the more interesting entries were by Josef Gobbels: Jan 7 1940 - "Film: Ben Hur. Old Jewish hokum. But well made." Then on Feb 12 1940 - " Frau [...] visits me this afternoon. We see the American Disney film Snow White, a magnificent artistic achievement. A fairy tale fo...more
