Waar ik het eerste deel ronduit prachtig vond was het tweede boek teleurstellend. Daardoor heb ik anderhalf jaar zitten dubben of ik nou wel of niet deel 3 moest lezen. Na een warme aanbeveling toch maar het derde deel ter hand genomen. En het was inderdaad prachtig.

Einde van de 19e eeuw: Karna is de dochter van Benjamin (de hoofdpersoon van deel 2) en daarmee de kleindochter van Dina (de hoofdpersoon van het eerste deel). Ze is in deel 2 buitenechtelijk verwekt door Benjamin tijdens zijn studie

If you have read precious books by this author, this one will not be a disappointment. The language is flowing and it is easy to close your eyes and just imagine the nature of Norway - the sea and the land both important to its people. The destinies of people who live there and who have lived before. The different generations and their stories which have been tied together by their history.

I woke up in the middle of the night, decided to read to help me fall asleep again, but the book is so intense I will stay up all night this way! :)

Herbjørg Wassmo (born Vesterålen, December 6, 1942) is a Norwegian author. She worked as a teacher in northern Norway until her debut as an author. Her debut work was a collection of poems, "Vingeslag" ("Beating of Wings"). Her major breakthrough was her first novel, "Huset med den blinde glassveranda" ("The House with the Blind Glass Porch") in 1981.
