I will admit I liked this book when I first read it, but I was young and foolish at the time. This book does NOT hold up on re-reading.
The promising parts aren't major players, alas. Wren becomes an idiot and barely has any screen time. Walker is still basically cool (at least in the first half of the book), but then gets infected with terminal stupidity in the ending ("I'm in such a damn hurry to rest I can't stop at the victory feast?"), not to mention abandoning the "Rar...more

I read this book fifteen years ago so its not exactly fresh in my mind, but this was basically the last Shannara book I read. Although I have read all of the WOT books, they were one series. I have a tough time staying with an author who keeps writing books in the same universe that basically involve the same types of struggles. My recollection is that this book finely ended the 4 book set

Disappointing series of books that I have only read once. Too much, too long and aside from introducing a new druid and restoring the keep the rest of this whole story arc was just too long for me.

Walker and wren are great characters and make the book. It is the 4th in the series and the magic is better than before, mainly because it is harder to call up. What a terrific book.

Well, I read this series like 15 years ago or something so I really don't remember much. What I do remember was that they were awesome!

I'm including the entire Shannara Series in one review, but I loved reading these when I was growing up.

Is Terry Brooks serious? What was up with this ending! I'm very deeply disappointed.
