If I had to pick a genre to write, fantasy would be my very last choice. There is just so much involved that goes beyond the realm of normal. The world building alone would be a task and a half, then all the folklore study, etc. etc. That being said, I love to read it and I love when it's done right. Daniel Bastion has done it right. I judge this book.... a success! I haven't read fantasy in a few years, but this was a great book to reintroduce me to the genre. Daniel Bastion's characters come alive on the page and it was a pleasure watching as the threads that connected their lives were revealed, including a couple of shockers. The story is rich with all the goodness this type of book produces, and then some. The fluidity of the fable along with the relatively short length lends itself to easy reading.
