bookshelves: philosophical
While the translation is a bit awkward, I felt like I had found some rare, precious jewel in this book. It was my first philosophical read of metaphysics (which is appropriate considering that Aristotle's was the first work we know of). In addition to the discussions of metaphysics (which greatly appealed to me), it was also the order and process of thought on the topic that I found delightful and exhilarating.

Extremely difficult and hard to understand. Took me several read thrus, plus secondary sources to understand, but once intellectually grasped, it becomes an astounding masterpiece mainly because the guy came up with pretty much from scratch. Amazing at how it survived centuries and a must read for anyone who calls themselves a philosophy fanatic.

I went to school where Joe Sachs teaches, and his translations are excellently faithful, even if that does mean a little initial adjustment on the part of the reader; compound Greek words are often translated as hyphenated English phrases, ie, "entelecheia" is "being-at-work-staying-itself," if I recall.

This book sums up the idea of the COSMOS
Very hard to read at first, but if a good translation is purchased, it can become easily digested. I read it, am still reading it and find tons of good points and ideas that hit close to my own personal thoughts on the universe.

Aristotle in general is pretty difficult to read and understand but if you are willing to really put some effort into it, he was a fascinating philosopher.

One of the most difficult to understand books...and this translation doesn't help either! 3 stars because of the translation: long-winding and cumbersome
