I began reading this memoir several years ago, probably in 2007 or 2008 when I first met the author, Steven Harvey, as part of my MFA work in poetry. I'm not entirely certain why I put it down, but I suspect it was because Steven's writing style is very much like his personal style - laconic and soothing.
