page 14 and my heart already aches ..... dammit!

My least favorite Carly book so far.
1. too wordy, not enough conversation for my taste
2. storyline was a bit far-fetched to me and everything was unresolved. all these mayo things happened (that's all i can say without spoiling it) but yet nothing seemed to be dealt with. I mean seriously, who comes back from the dead after a decade and everyone just says 'oh hey, how are ya?'...um, reality check, no.
I could go on, but then I'd just be giving away More...

You know me when I’m determined.
- Ty
Some things, some people are too important to mention aloud.
- Lilly
And when I crossed my heart, I meant it.
- Lilly
The woman’s said no so many times I’m lucky I still have an ego left.
- Hunter
No sane man can read a woman’s mind, no matter how much they think we can.
- Ty
I can’t lose what I never had. Not that I won’t give it a shot…But let’s just say my expectations aren’t high.
- Hunter

Tertarik sejak membaca sinopsisnya, bahkan sebelum bukunya terbit. :P Dan akhirnya bisa membawanya pulang setelah kelar membaca buku sebelumnya. \(^.^)/

Namun, kepergian Lilly yang sudah dianggap me More...

Nonsense. This was my first try with this author and while the writing was decent and basically kept me going, I'm not sure I'll give her another chance because the plot made no sense. A girl fakes her own death at 17 because her uncle wants her trust fund and does very vague bad things to her to try to get it, including putting her in fake foster care for a short time. (By fake foster care, I mean that he paid someone to take her, but he told her she was in the foster care system.) She stays go More...

I've read Carly Phillips before and found her funny and light reading. NOT IN THIS BOOK. The narration on this book is literally "gushy" and I could not even finish the first CD as the trite adjectives describing the protaganists ("chocolate brown eyes" is an example) made me yell "OMG" at the CD player! The plot's situation was not plausible: would the police just assume that Lacey was dead when they found no body? Would the uncle wait so long before declaring her dead if there were such a subs More...

This book is about an independent woman named Lily Dumont who was assumed by others, dead. In her past, she have been abused by her uncle after her parents died and left a huge fortune for when Lily gets older but now, the uncle is out to kill her and to confiscate her fund for himself.
This book is more of a coming-of-age story where the main character learns something after all of their troubles that they were to face. I was really drawn into this book because it was very detailed and engaging, More...

This book was okay to listen to, but the "pitch" of the voice of the person reading this would irritate me. The voice was just a tad too high and whiny for me to really get into the character, so I sort of stayed on the outside as I read the story.

On the whole, the story idea was pretty good. Carly Phillips is a great story teller. The relationship between Lacy and Ty is the focus of this book. They met during her foster care stay with Ty's mom and forged a very strong friendship that lasted th More...

I like a light and engaging read as well as the next person, but this book read like the author was given an assignment to write at third grade level for adult emerging readers. The plot was dumbed down, the writing was dumbed down, and it was just downright boring. I liked the characters, which is how this book gets any stars at all, but there just needs to be a bit more sophistication involved to keep my attention.

Not great. Not as fluffy as the Hot zone series and seemingly less stupid.
However the plot did not really convince me. Once again the timeline was weirdly managed. It seems Lilly could only have spent a few weeks, months at best living with Ty and Hunter; despite that they turn the best friends of the world. I also never got convinced that Lilly suffered any real abuse from her uncle, the worst that is mentioned is angry words. To my opinion that does not explain 9 years of staying away almost More...

This was a goodread. Three troubled teenagers band together to save one of themselves from a very destructive life. While Lily moves on the two that were left behind face upheaval and struggles of their own. Now years have past and Lily comes back to town to fix the past and set the future right.

An easy read when searching for a book that didn't require thinking or being committed to the characters. Quick read, lots of skimming over parts that were silly. I wouldn't recommend unless you wanted a mindless read.

Lilly was a rich orphan, targeted by her greedy uncle for her fortune. With her best friend Ty's help she faked her death and then disappeared into the big city under an assumed name. Now, though, Ty has come to find her again, to help her reclaim her fortune and see if their childish infatuation can become something more.

Not quite was I was expecting. Lilly/Lacey and Ty are an absolutely adorable couple, that have past history but no real problems or obstacles between them. The murder plot was More...

I can't believe I used to love Carly Phillips so much, because now when I re-read a lot of her books, they are so lame. This was no exception. It was sooooooooo lame and cheesy, especially on audiobook.

The writing is not good, the diatribes by the characters and the struggle with falling for the other person is just lame. LAME.

And as others said, this story is totally unbelievable. You move 3 hours away and don't see each other for 10 years? Yeah, right.

This would be a good book to read on the beach or listen to in the car when you want something simple and not distracting. This was my first Phillips book, and it will probably be my last. The storyline was so-so and the characters were rather standard. There also wasn't much humor. Now, I like the occasional light romance, which is why I picked up this book, but there are better authors. I would recommend Janet Evanovich's early romances in place of this book, since they are equally "light" but More...

One word to describe this book? YAWN! What a boring book. Seriously. I dunno what it is with Carly Phillips but either her books are fucking awesome (like the Hot Zone books) or they suck majorly. Like this one.
I mean you could have really done something with this idea. So bad she didn't. :( And what really starts to annoy me (in general) is why all the women have to cry like on every damn page. *sigh*
I am still curious if she learned from this book and wrote a better book for Hunter's story! *h More...

Lacey Kinkaid aka Lilly Dumont & Tyler "Ty" Benson & "Hunter" Daniel
Lilly's Uncle is abusing her and wants her trust fund so the friends stage her death and she runs to NYC at 17. 10 years later the guys learn her Uncle is going to claim her estate so private investigator Ty (who's always loved her) goes to NYC and convinces her to come home to claim it. Someone tries to kill her. Lilly loves Ty too although Hunter falls for her as well but his story will be a sequel.

Presumed dead, Lilly makes an appearance in her home town. Some were happy to see her, some were surprised, and some were very unhappy. Plots began to kill Lilly for good this time. Who would want her dead? Any why? Lots of twists and turn. Each character brought out a new twist. Overall, it was a very good book, and a quick read. You fell in love with Lilly, and felt sorry for her in the process. I gave this a 4 star.

I'm not quite sure what the problem is here. I like Ty and Lilly (aka Lacey), but I didn't like the flow of the story. To put it bluntly, I was kind of bored. It seemed that we had a lot of background to sift through, although necessary to the plot, it just seemed to prevent the story from moving forward. I liked Ms. Phillips other series, The Zone, and thought I would check this out. I hope the next book is more fun.

I tried. I really tried but I couldn't s suspend my disbelief in the basic premise of this story or understand the heroine's appeal. I got about halfway through when I decided there are hundreds of potentially good books on my 'to read' list to continue on with this book. I'm normally a fan of Carly Phillips so I really wanted to like this book.

The worst book is a hundred time better that mediocre television.

Such a cute story. I love the premise of three childhood best friends reuniting as adults and still finding their friendship as solid and essential as it was when they were 17. I love that Ty and Hunter remained best friends over the years and I loved how Lacey/Lily fit right back into the picture. Who doesn't enjoy that fantasy of the best friends finally getting together after years of thinking about it?
