She still yearns for her hot landlord, Cooper Cartwright, but her relationship with "rebound beau," vigorous vegan math professor Tad Tocco, is more than satisfactory. OH MY GOSH!!

I love Heather Wells (the main character). She is so relatable it's sometimes scary. Having been an avid fan of the Heather Wells character since I read the first page of 'Size 12 is not fat', I've avidly followed this series written by Meg Cabot.

I'm not usually a fan of chick lit, but the balance of humor, mystery, characters etc in these books makes them so much fun to read. Heather is a pop tween hit turned college worker just trying to make a living. Shes funny, in love with Coop...more

I like Meg Cabot books but some of her novels definitely go in the 'beach reads' pile. They're amusing but not particularly satisfying -- much like the junk food Heather Wells is always eating.

The concept for this series is cute: former teen pop sensation, Heather Wells, now broke and overweight, works in a NY college dorm as an administrator and solves the repeat murders that take place there. You have to look past the idea that NY detectives are so stupid they couldn't find their butts with tw...more

I rushed out into a snow storm yesterday to buy this book because I had just finished Size 14 is Not Fat Either and I just wasn't ready to part with quirky Heather Wells. I rarely laugh out loud at a book as hard I did when I read this series. So, naturally in a mood for more laughter, and hopefully a resolution to the Heather/Cooper love saga, I speed read through this third installment in the series.

Unfortunately, I felt this was the weakest book in the series. It still had me cracking a few...more

I was so excited to finally read this book! I’m a huge fan of the Heather Wells mysteries, and I couldn’t wait to see what one of my favorite heroines had in store for me this time. I must say that it was better than I expected

So, the last we’d heard from Heather, she had just met her remedial math teacher who turned out to be a hottie. Now, in Big Boned, remedial math teacher Tad is now Heather’s boyfriend! Which is totally forbidden, since it’s against the rules for teachers to date students....more

These are the first Meg Cabot books I've read and I really have enjoyed them. Yes, they're fluff. But her dialogue and characters are so genuine that it all seems so effortless. It's fizzy fluff with a zip. Effervescent fluff. If her writing were food, it would be that pop rock cotton candy, which honestly, we all need a little more of in our diet.

This is the third novel in the Heather Wells series, following Size 12 is Not Fat and Size 14 is Not Fat Either. Personally, I think this might just be the best in the series, albeit a seemingly quicker read than the others. But truly? They're all brilliant. Heather, despite being a former pop princess, is a down-to-earth, funny character who's instantly lovable and easy to relate to. I'd advise you to read the other two books in the series first, although it's pretty easy to follow up and Meg's...more

I had ordered several books by Meg Cabot, and without paying attention to the order that they were written and published, I read this one first. This is actually the 3rd in the Heather Mills series, after Size 12 Is Not Fat and Size 14 Isn't Fat Either. I can say, though, that even not having read the first two books in this series I wasn't lost. I'm sure that knowing the characters in the book may have given the characters more depth, but it certainly wasn't necessary to understand the storylin...more

I did not know this was the third book in the series. Hopefully 1 and 2 were much better than this one, because I found it ridiculous. The main character Heather is so annoying. She has a boyfriend, a crush and Cooper who are all dying to be with her and all she does is complain about her size. The romance with the cafeteria lady and security guard was silly. The murder mystery, murderer, solving the mystery and ending of the book were all dumb. I will not be reading a book by Meg Cabot again.

Downloaded this on audiobook from the library. I read the first in the series, 'Size 12 is Not Fat' a while back, and it was entertaining enough. It's a 'cozy' mystery series. I actually preferred the audio format for this because the narrator is very good. She has a cute, friendly voice that lends itself well to the various characters.

Heather, the protagonist, works as a dorm director for a residents hall on the campus of the fictional New York College (obviously based on NYU, since it's locat...more

Ahh again book 3 in a series and I didn't read the first 2...Was a little hard to get caught up. I did really enjoy it though. Just all around fun with a little bit of mystery.

She still yearns for her hot landlord, Cooper Cartwright, but her relationship with "rebound beau," vigorous vegan math professor Tad Tocco, is more tha...more

Heather Wells is back, and it seems for once, life is going well. Her math teacher has now become her boyfriend. Who cares if he is a vegetarian health nut, Heather is just happy he is interested in her. Her father is finally moving out and has a new business venture that he wants Heather to help him with. But when her new boss is found shot dead in his office, Heather's life is tossed into array.

After one of the graduate students is arrested for the crime, one of Heather's student employee beg...more

I loved this book just as much as I did the other Heather Wells mysteries. So much, in fact, that I'm sad there aren't any more -- at least for now. Although Cabot says a fourth and fifth are in the works. This was a super fast read (almost too fast, I wanted more!), and the actual mystery -- never that compelling in Cabot's books anyway -- was even more "fluff" than usual, taking a huge backseat to other aspects of the story. But the strange thing is, I didn't mind; I didn't mind that or the fa...more

Not as good as the previous two, in this book Heathers new boss is found shot in his office, the students have formed an union and are demanding better employment conditions, Heather has a new boyfriend who is vegan and doesn't own a tv, the new vicar has a habit of touching members of the choir in an inappropriate manner, Heathers dad is back in her life and eventually gets back into the music industry and Heathers ex is about to be a father.

For the amount of things tha...more

Light reading, not compelling but amusing. I would read more if they were on a feature shelf, but am not likely to go out of my way to find more.

Heather is a funny character. On the one hand she is smart & intuitive. How else is she able to solve these mysteries? On the other hand, she's mightily preoccupied with being as lazy & comfort seeking as possible. I liked this book. One thing that bothered me was the scene when she goes running with her boyfriend Tad. She kept blathering on about her uterus falling out just because she jogged a few steps. I mean really, how lazy can a person get & how tiresome this internal dialogue...more

Big Boned is the third book in Cabot's Heather Wells series. Heather is a washed up former rock singer. She was famous on the mall and fair circuit when she was a teen. Her mother ran off with her manager and all of Heather's money, her father was jailed, and her musician boy friend dumped her. Heather, in an attempt to put her life back together and pursue music she wants to write, took a job at New York College as assistant dorm director at the aptly named "Death Dorm." This time it's Heather'...more

Big Boned is the third (and most recent) book in Meg Cabot's Heather Wells Mysteries series.

There's been yet another murder at Fischer Hall. This time its Heather's boss Owen. Shot in the head while sitting in his office. Heather is the one that finds him... and now she's a suspect! Granted, she didn't always get long with her new boss, but would she really KILL him?? No. Of course not! She's cleared of suspicion within about two seconds and then we go back to her promising (yet again) to not ge...more

It’s been nearly two years since I read the second book in this series, but the characters and events of the past books came back to me fairly quickly, Heather and Cooper especially. In fact, I particularly remembered how much I liked Cooper and how badly I wanted he and Heather to get together.

This book opens with Heather still living in Cooper’s brownstone, along with her father and her dog, Lucy. Her dad is getting back on his feet and is about to move out, and Heather is realizing that she...more

I’m an avid fan of the books in the Heather Wells series, and although Big Boned wasn’t as good as the other books in the series, it was still enjoyable.

When Heather finds her new boss shot dead in his office, she’s baffled. Because, really, who’d want to kill her Garfield-loving, albeit strict, boss?

When a wrongly accused student is arrested for the murder, Heather finds herself, again, in the middle of the chaos. Now there are two students in jail, one in hysterics, and one giant inflatable...more

Knowing that a fourth Heather Wells book was imminent, I decided it was time to pick up book #3. Honestly, the beginning of this book was so much like the first two that I had to check Goodreads to make sure I hadn't actually read it before. I enjoy Meg Cabot and have read many, many, many of her books, but I have to admit they're starting to get pretty repetitive - this series in particular.

Anyway, I signed out the digital audio copy. The narrator reads unbelievably slowly, so I was really, rea...more

I red the book Size Doesnt Matter.
I kinda liked this book because it is a little bit of a mistery and romance story.
It is about this woman that is in university and has a boyfriend but he is a profesor assistant in the math department.Students and teachers arent allowed to have a relationship and if they find out the professor will be fired.

They have this horrible boss in the office Dr. Veatch and everyone hates him. One day when Heather Wells (the main character in the book) is looking for Dr...more

I should mention that I did not read the previous books, which apparently build the characters and lead to this book. I expect there were comments made that meant nothing to me because of this.

Overall, the book is pretty good. It started off with a few good laughs and immediately you could identify with the main character. Definitely not your typical mystery in that it is light and fluffy. There weren't any surprises and you knew what the ending was long before you reached it. While some have co...more

...We see the same characters come back from the last book, like Sarah the grad student worker, Heather's old boss Tom, Heather's Dad, Gavin McGoren and I love Gavin just as much in this book as I did in the last book. There's just something about Gavin that I can't help but love. His adoration of Heather, the way he has complete faith in her and his sense of humor. Goodness, the scenes that Gavin is in always has me in fits of giggles. He's such a cutie patootie.

It was so good that Cooper still...more

I think I read this book before or I at least started to read it because the beginning of the story sounds familiar. It is ok, nothing social, I am at page 200 so I might as well finish it. ....Ok so this book was not the best and I do not think I finished the first time and there was a reason for it. I guess it was not cheesy enough for me.

Heather Wells is at it again when her freeloading ex-con father is finally moving out, her burning love for her landlord and (sometimes) partner Cooper Cartwright still takes effect event though she is a completely different relationship, and her boss is murdered in his office. With lots of suspects as to who did it (lets just say her boss wasn't the most loveable person), Heather can't help but try to find out who did it.

This book makes up for the previous one (not TO much Jorden, so the story...more

I was looking for a lighter read and stumbled upon the third book in the Heather Mills series. I enjoyed the first two, and knew the tone of this book was just what I was looking for. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as the others. I read it last month, and am just now posting the review. That tells you that I wasn't too eager to rave about it. The other problem is that now that time has passed, I don't remember much about the plot of the book. What I do remember is that it focused less on the m...more

Librarian note: AKA Jenny Carroll (1-800-Where-R-You series), AKA Patricia Cabot (historical romance novels).

Meg Cabot was born on February 1, 1967, during the Chinese astrological year of the Fire Horse, a notoriously unlucky sign. Fortunately she grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where few people were aware of the stigma of being a fire horse -- at least until Meg became a teenager, when she flun...more
