American Wren Saunders is halfway through a semester studying French language and culture in Paris. Li Hai is a Chinese student finishing up a business degree from La Sorbonne. The only thing they have in common is an imperfect grasp of French, and as their time together draws to a close, Wren discovers that this is not quite enough.

More 3,5 stars, to be honest.

I really enjoyed this short story. Sometimes the language was a bit awkward and I wondered if the author's mother language was really English but overall it's good... I would have put accents over some of the French words but yeah...

I'd say this is a bittersweet short story. Wren and Li Hai met when they're both studying abroad in France. They can only communicate in French but they don't know the language very well so there is always a lot left unsaid during their
