This is a lovely little book, which in a round about way celebrates diversity within the black community. The illustrations are bright and engaging, showing the happiness of a young child as she views the world around her. One of the greatest disappointments in the black community is centered around hair. This was a great book on self-esteem. We have to start early talking to our babies, letting them know that they are beautiful. That African Americans range in the lightest of light, to the blackest of black and many colors in between. Regardless of our skin tone we have to accept people for who they are. Skin color does not determine ones character.
