Full disclosure: Bill is a dear friend and mentor of mine, so there you go, a bit of bias on my part!

This is a powerful coming of age tale, about the early to mid-1960s in North Carolina. There is race, gender, culture, everything here about the South at that time, both the good and the bad.

More importantly, this is a story about life and its ups and downs. There is a darkness here, a deep and sad darkness, as Will, the main character, comes of age, learns about the realities of the world around
