From the opening pages, I was assaulted by the pulp style of this novel. The West is only a backdrop to a story that immediately degrades into a series of bawdy escapades by an improbable Pinkerton agent. This trashy and sleazy Western might provide a storyline for a pornographic B movie, but it was not one I was able to follow to the end.
