Für viele ist bereits das morgendliche Aufstehen Ausdruck des guten Willens. Frühaufsteher haben ihn gewiss in anderer Hinsicht nötig. Ohne den guten Willen verfehlen Vorsätze ihre Wirkung, verliert die Reue ihren Wert. Der gute Wille bildet schließlich den Charakter des Menschen.

For some parts, I found this play pretty confusing and the characters changing their minds way too often for my liking, and it was sometimes, for me, like a romantic tableau of visions.
On the other hand, I liked the questions about whether rules and laws are always appropriate to base our decisions on.
Your typical school-assigned boring play- don't like military stories, especially plays with military stories. Quite stuffy. Has a Greek tragedy feel to it.

An excellent story about mercy, law, and consequences. Makes me wish I read German so I could read Von Kleist’s actual words.
