I love poetry. I love to write it and I love to read works by other poets to make me a better writer. My boyfriend picked up this book at his bookstore job and both of us were really excited to read this book. However, the poems to the writer's late husband were really sub par with other poems in the book. I can imagine a few poems that are written that would be included in the book, but half of the book? That was too much.

I did love the first set of poems though, titled "Healin More...

Certainly one of the best characteristics of this collection of poetry is the excellent title. However the poems, written by a poet who was born in 1918, are also timely, personal, and meaningful.

Trying to describe poems or judge them is like trying to describe or judge music - all is opinion, and it simply can't be done with any real clarity or objectivity. I will say that the poems in this book written to her late husband/partner were most of the best ones. Not my style of writing in terms of re-reading for jealous inspiration, so am passing it along, but would be curious to see more of her work.
