Gerrit Middelkoop
After reading Ray Kurzweil's book "The singularity is near", I read this book that Ray recommended. It deals with the question of how we deal with new technological achievements, in this case uploading the mind in a computer. The reason for the upload in this case was a terminal disease. Alas, the download of the consciousness into a robot 27 years later, is abused by the Army. Very touching story, believable characters and a great plot. I will definitely read more work of Mark.

I was born in 1971 and grew up in suburban Chicago. As a child I was diagnosed with Dystonia, a debilitating neuromuscular disorder. Though there is no cure for Dystonia, surgeries and rehabilitation allowed me to walk with only a slight limp by the time I started high school. I received a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Anthropology, both from Northern Illinois University. As an adult a brain ...more
