Brad Thor's national best-selling debut, "The Lions of Lucerne," was hailed as "high-voltage entertainment reminiscent of Robert Ludlum" ("Literary Journal"). Now, he again delivers a non-stop action as one man's quest for revenge thrusts him into a battle to save his country....

After rescuing the President from kidnappers, Navy SEAL turned

I thought the first book was a bit of a stretch for my ability to accept the author's premises. But right at the start of this book the author has the main character outside at night, in a hurricane, on the ground after having tackled someone and there is a sports car with its headlights on racing toward him and the hero notes the mercury like gray of the drivers eyes and he'll be able to identify them if he sees them again. REALLY?!?!? Are you &^%@$# kidding me? I read just about all kinds ...more

Better than the first book. I think I liked it better because it moved a little faster and had fewer things that I could point at and say "but that's not right." I would also revise my previous statement about the feel of Thor's novels: rather than Cussler / Clancy, it's probably more like Cussler / Ludlum, but moves a lot faster than most of Ludlum's books.

Scot Harvath, action hero, is once again front and center. He kicks butt on special ops missions. The situation in...more

I wish there was an 'Eh' rating as that what I thought of 'Path of the Assassin' It kept me entertained for the few days it took to read but it hasn't made me anxious to read the next book in the Scot Havorth series.

Several times while reading I felt like I was reading something from Hollywood. I like action suspense but sometimes it is over done not really creating the suspense but more of a ho hum lets get to a new scene.

The book was way longer, like one other reviewer ...more

This is the 2nd in the Scot Harvath series and I can tell where BT was still developing the character. An Israeli faction calling themselves the Hand of God suddenly starts blowing up key Islamic Holy places and killing thousands of people. These horrific terrorist incidents threatens entire world peace, as the Islamic people vow to return the favor. As the US tries to get intel on the entire situation Scot is sent in to help gather that data. The action sequences are very well crafted. They don...more

I was pretty impressed with this follow up to the first book. It wasn't quite as good as the first one but it wasn't a huge disappointment. In fact, I am pretty excited for the next book in the series after the end of this one. This book finds Scot partnering up with a woman who stops a terrorist attack as they try to track down the last of those who kidnapped the President in book 1. Like I wrote about the first book, these remind me a lot of the Bourne series, but I think that I am going to li...more

On his quest of revenge his finds himself in the middle of a bloody mission that leads to one man- Hashim Nidal. Everyplace he finds himself in the wake of the bloody Hand of God organization which is led my no other than Hashim Nidal. It is looking that the Hand of God wants noth...more

An early Thor book - I enjoy his writing as I find it a fast-paced, exciting and informative read. I find that I know so little of the active world of terrorism and counter-terrorism activities. My admiration grows for the men and women who are actively taking part in this arena. I believe the average citizen knows very little about the true level of danger, and about how much exposure we live in on a daily basis.

And, after having read "Full Black," I'm a bit hesitant to enga...more

While the first Scott Harvath novel was good, the second was outstanding. This book was nonstop action from page one til the end.

I still think the character of Scott Harvath lacks depth. This book reasserts his I'm the best, the only one who knows how to do things, jerkish attitude. While he often does know what's best and is right, a little humility would add something to his character, which in my opinion, is a little two-dementional, at least at this point in the series.

This is the fourth Brad Thor book I have picked up. A action packed thriller with lots of guns things that blow up all the things a solid spy thriller book needs.
I read a review on iTunes titled 'Jack Bauer Would be Proud' so I was immideatly attracted to this book hoping to be blown away by this book and perhaps, I would even give Brad Thor his first ever 5 star endorsement.
Why four stars? first of all the only audio version I could find for this book was abridged and I do not l...more

This picks up where the ‘Lions of Lucerne’ leaves off. Most of the characters that survived the carnage of the first novel are back and seeking revenge. The author has decided to clean up some of the loose ends and dispatches heroics in hefty doses. It is ‘sort-of’ inventive and packed with Clive Cussler doses of testosterone and heroics. Terrorists abound. Terrorists are dispatched with justice. It’s a pretty good snuff book. Fast and . . . probably a preamble to the next book. At least it feel...more

Many people may argue that Agent Harvath's escapes are unbelievable, and they are, but that's the best part about Brad Thor, he develops this ridiculously macho hero and lets your mind just wander with him and leave you thinking that Jack Bauer is a sissy compared to this guy.

I wouldn't say I loved it, but I didn't hate it by any means. It definitely set up the next book quite well, State of the Union.

More in the same vein as Vince Flynn and David Balducci. Good page turner, if not entirely original. I guess to be original you'd have to be Ian Fleming :)

I'll pick up the rest of this series at some point.

I really enjoy the lead character in this series. I also like the technical aspect. I feel Brad does an excellent job of describing without bogging down with too much tech speak. I will note that in the first book and the second book a pattern is seeming to emerge (kick ass guy meets up with somewhat kick ass girl with a GREAT PERSONALITY). I hope he derails from that character track soon, it gets tiresome. But the story unfolds well and I look forward to seeing how this character develops in th...more

it was a good book but i was able to put it down while reading and not feel the need to hurry back to it which is my definition of what makes a 5 star book. the characters were strong and believeable and there were several "twist and turns" that came as a surprise. want to get started on his next book to see if it is any better. need to go back and read the "lions of lucerne" at some time.

Trying to read all the Scot Harvath books. But it has been difficult to focus lately. But this was book 2 and really started right off where book one ended. By the end of 2 Harvath is in his new position and that is where I found him when by accident I read book 6 or 7 first! Hee hee I had no idea it was the same guy in all the books. Well I guess off to Barnes and Noble to get the next one.

Three stars...I liked it. I'm thinking Brad Thor and I need some time apart after reading two of his books right in a row. Sometimes I just laugh with how perfect Scot Harvath is. Not only does he have rippling pectorals, but he is the top secret service agent in all of the United States. He's also the top agent in the CIA and the FBI and he's not even part of those organizations. I did really like the opening dilemma involving the plane and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Part of me li...more

Entertaining summer reading. Like the last one, I occasionally rolled my eyes at the clicheed macho hero, but the author writes an exciting story. Sometimes I wish the character could just look at his watch, rather than looking at his titanium-plated Swiss Rolex given to him as a thank-you from the Swiss government, but some of the detail is actually quite interesting.

Scot Harvath, Secret Service Agent and former SEAL, continues to seek revenge on those that played a part in the deaths of his fellow officers and kidnapped his President. This time he is partnered with a civilian who is the only one to have seen one of the terrorists and needs to ID him - creating a plausible reason for her and Scot to become partners with guns.

Something that strikes me about these books, besides the wonderful locales that make me want to travel globally, is the sh...more

I love Brad Thor books, its like reading events from today's news. He has a means of making the thrill last from beginning sentence to ending sentence. The only thing I do not like about his work, is that he often refers to news as provided by Fox News; after years of switching from newscast to newscast, I refer to Fox News as Faux News; could this be the only fiction that Thor has added to his book?

For the most part, I enjoyed this book as much as Brad Thor's first novel -- The Lions Of Lucerne. There were a couple spots where the story almost came apart like a cheesy action movie, but other than that, the believability was top-notch and scary. This book was published NINE years ago and it feels like it was taken right out of today's news headlines.

After reading Lions of Lucerne, I decided this author was worth one more purchase. As I said before, I was looking for something similar to Vince Flynn, but nobody can compare. This was a good book, just not AS good as Flynn's. I would read more of his books if I got them for free - but I wouldn't buy any more (especially with Kindle prices!).

On a bit of a spy thriller kick these days. First with Vince Flynn and his Mitch Rapp creation, now I'm giving Brad Thor a crack. pretty good so far. Scott Harvath is a little more vulnerable that rapp but that is kind of what I like about him. Thor is very adept at keeping the action going. I'm excited to see where the story goes.

Horvath and an Islamic assassin bent on starting WW III duke it out in this thriller. The assassin manages to carry out several high-profile terrorist attacks against Muslims, all while pretending to be from the Israeli "Hand of God" movement. Horvath must expose and take out the assassin before the worlds descends into chaos.

This series has the same premise as the Vince Flynn books, but lacks in readability. Thor's writing is elementary in nature and I found myself thinking, "I'm not in 1st grade, why are you writing like I am." I was so annoyed with his style that I stopped reading the series. Scot Harvath also isn't nearlly as BA as Mitch Rapp.
Robert Colquhoun
Fast paced action with likeable characters and an interesting plot. Some good twists and turns. I didn't read the first one but would definitely give it a go too. Harvath, the human killing machine and hero, is tough and fierce but not too overdone. Would give it a 3+ if it were available.
Dominique
I didn't enjoy this follow up to The Lions of Lucerne quiet as much. I think it may have had to do with the fact that I could only find it in an abridge format on audio which means I may have lost some details that would have helped me like it more. But again, it was entertaining.

This is Brad's second book and it was excellent. If you like any of the following authors, you will really enjoy Brad Thor's tails of Scot Harvath:
Vince Flynn, David Hagberg, Ted Bell, Steve Berry, Christopher Reich, the new author Ben Coes and of course, Tom Clancy.
Dave
A very good fast action thriller! After gaining a little knowledge of Thor's past you can plainly see where the information and details come from in his novels. The main charactor "Scott Harvath" is an all american guy. Great plot and sails smoothly along.

Much of this was a little to hard for me to believe. I want the main character to work on getting along with others! Scot, if you want your team members to cover your back, you need to try. Maybe when the main character matures...
