What surprised me most is how quickly I picked this book up off the shelf and borrowed it once I realised it was a sequel to West End Shuffle. Because I didn't actually like West End Shuffle all that much. This was a better book: Carmen is no more likeable, let alone more sensible, but there's such a sense of place with this one, and Ingrid isn't Ella-Malvina :-) Some of the characters - Helene, Albert - are wonderfully drawn, and given her character, Carmen's final decision makes perfect sense ...more

I didn't realise that this book was a squeal until today and I read it last year. Maybe I knew but regardless this is a stand alone novel that didn't even need a debut to make sense. It was a wonderful, short, read.

I'm just a glutton for punishment. I didn't like West End Shuffle much and could not STAND Carmen, yet still I read the sequel...
FANTASIC and since I'm a proformer myself I kind of know how She feels....I havn't read that book on a long time.......
