I picked Fishing and Other Misadventures mainly because I read Stoner's novels and loved them.
Not a fan of biographical non-fiction, I didn't know what to expect this time, but I've been in for a lovely surprise. It was either the delightful, friendly, light style, or the stories themselves told in each chapter, but this book made a wonderful read for me. I kept swallowing it chapter after chapter, connecting to the author in all stages of his life, from the cute serious boy up to the usual boy

S. Bradley Stoner, the author of wilderness adventure and outdoor humor novels since 1980, recently saw his first children’s book published. He retired from a 35 year career in environmental consulting a couple of years ago to pursue his passion for writing on a full time basis.

His love of the wilderness coupled with the disillusion borne of a limited employment market in the early 1970s inspired

“Don’t worry,” he said, that grandfatherly smile spreading across his face once more, “I’ve been fishing for over forty years.  You’ve got plenty of time to catch up, maybe even pass what I’ve done.  You’re a perspicacious piscatorial pursuer, and I’m sure you’ll catch the big ones.” 0 likes
