A couple of years ago I house sat for a nurse I knew. Snooping through other people's bookshelves being one of my favorite things to do, I quickly zeroed in on an old hardback copy of this intriguing book.

I was there for two or three days, and I got through half of it. It was scary, and it made me feel both afraid of sleeping alone at night in that house and afraid of myself! I wonder sometimes how fine the line is between multiple personality disorder and a vivid imagination? Not always so cle
If you liked Eve or Sybil you must read this. It is even better. You won't want to put it down.
Found this book cleaning my late grandmother's guest bedroom bookshelf. She was a high school librarian, so she naturally had an extensive collection of books. The pics on the leaflet in the middle of the book intrigued me, & once I started reading this, couldn't put it down! I would've liked to hear more of how the original 7 characters "discovered" each other's existences as Kit went to therapy, as well as an update on her life now. I think I remember reading that she discovered even other ...more
I did finish this, though it is rather long-winded. At times I had to drag myself through it, something I'm not used to having to do when a book's subject matter fascinates me as much as this. I actually liked how the book skipped around; I thought it gave a good feel for how life must be like for someone with MPD with the gaps in time and whatnot. It's definitely not my favourite book on the subject, but I did find it interesting.

It is good to read stories about people from their own perspective.
No two stories are the same, even if there are elements in common.
I had read this before, back a few years ago.
Each multiple system and their lives are different.
Their healing journey and journey towards co-consciousness is their own.
I've not read a case on MPD that was set in the 80's. I've also never read one where the patient believed her house was haunted or where the patient integrates her personalities herself. It was okay, but the other books I've read based on MPD cases were much more well written than this one.
