Jeanette Cheezum’s “Poetry Collection” begins with a traumatic confrontation and the speaker’s willingness to offer hope amid suffering and pain. The poet shares wisdom, exposes vulnerabilities, and clearly defines herself as a woman, daughter, wife, and mother in Who I Am— “Love me or leave me, / I’m on a journey. Hold / on tight.”

“Daughter” breaks the heart with its passionately conveyed desire for reconciliation between mother and child. Then there’s the hint of the heaven we have here on Ear
