I'm hoping to have at least three installments, with two extras being in the female POV. Submerge, Emerge and Recede are listed in the series, but not the final book because I have ideas on where I want to go with it, but haven't started putting them to paper yet. If my long winded explanation confused you as much as it did me, there will be 5 total books in the series, 2 of them in the main female character's POV.(less)

Don't know, but I've finally crawled out from under it. If that ever happens again, please shoot me an email because I most likely didn't see it.
To answer your question, I'm still writing Submerge, but I changed it up a bit. Instead of having Submerge include everything that happened before Surge, it's just going to go up to where Olivia escapes from Cole. It's already almost 800 pages (going by my manuscript), so I don't want to include the compound in there too (that will be in Emerge which I won't even look at until Recede is done). Submerge will be coming out soon to hopefully lessen the withdrawal symptoms, lol. As soon as that is out of the way, I'm diving straight back into Jared's brain and not coming out until it's done. I might become claustrophobic by the time it's done, but it's sure to prove interesting. Thanks for being patient, and I promise it will be worth it.(less)

This is a different book for me, I read romance and as far as I can remember I've never read, or wanted to read a book about the undead but there was just something about this book.
I loved it and became totally absorbed, the characters were well written and believable and the story held my full attention, in fact I couldn't get enough now I'm left waiting and hoping that Katelin writes another book quickly, preferably a follow on since I'd like to stick with this story a bit longer.
4.5 stars for this completely outta the blue fantastic read, it's been a while since I've been blown away by a book, let alone a debut! ....this was SO fucking amazing, I don't even know how to explain why it was just so good.... So instead I'll just mention the few things that kept this from being a 5 star read:

1) the atrocious editing. Holy hell, there were a lot of of errors. A lot, a lot of almost made me want to cry.... But IMO the overall story was just so so freaking good, i

Damn...this was such a long book and it felt like it went on forever but I stuck it out and got through over 700 pages!

I liked it...didn't love it...just liked it.

Kick ass heroine

Snarky banter

Bitchy whiny women

Commitment phobes

but....not many zombies!

I finished reading this story about a week ago, but I’ve put off the review for many reasons. The main being, I don’t think I’ll do this book justice. I know this is something book bloggers everywhere say at least once a week, but I truly don’t think I can describe my feelings for this book. It was such a complex story, emotionally and story-wise. It was attention grabbing, but it was definitely not an easy read. There is so much emotion – anger, despair, pain, humor, horror, love, fru

Wow! This was great! At first I was wrong. While I was reading the first 1/4 of this book, I thought it wasn't the book for me. I thought it was silly, immature, very childish. I was sooooo wrong! As the book progressed, the main character became a man. So, all the silly childish things left the story. Then the story cam together like none other. There was violence, gangs, romance, love, sex, revenge all wrapped perfectly together to make this a wonderful read. This is not your "usual walking ...more

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

This story was not what I expected at all. I'm not even sure what I expected, some sort of zombie story that involved mutant human people eating humans; that is what I thought this was going to be. I don't even like zombie movies/stories because it's always the same thing; there is apocalyptic terror everywhere and everyone is on their own.

This story is much more than that and I was happily surprised. The whole story is told in first and

I suppose it's possible that I did not give this book much of a chance - but I just could not on any level make myself care about the female lead in this story. Suddenly I understand wholeheartedly what it is that bothers so many readers about a Mary Sue character. Maybe I have a higher tolerance than others, or maybe this particular Mary Sue out-Mary's all the other Sues in Suesville. I absolutely could not stand her, not one bit. She was a better fighter than everyone else. She was smarter ...more
Five stars for this original novel. Found this on Smashwords, and could not put it down. It may be a "zombie" novel, but there's so much more to it. Action, romance, abuse, etc, so it appeals to several of my favorite genres.

The characters were well developed, and realistic. Loved the male pov, its a nice change from being stuck in a female's head like most of the new adult romance novels currently on the market. Jared is a breath of fresh air, there are several scenes where I found myself laugh

SURGE by Katelin LaMontagne was provided to me free of charge in eBook format by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This review contains spoilers.

This book is set in a post apocalyptic version of our world. Researchers have discovered a cure for cancer known as Gene K. It showed great promise in chimpanzees and human testing soon followed. The vaccine was used to treat 1100 terminally ill patients before the FDA had a chance to test and approve it. Within a month the patients seemed to

I was giving this book thru the author for my honest review. This is a Zombie/Love/Violence kind of story. For this being Katelin's first book I have to say you did awesome! I couldn't put it down I just had to know what happened next. If you enjoy post-apocalyptic movies/books check this book out you will love it. “You were supposed to be my wingman, not my freaking kamikaze pilot.” “You do know you’re a woman, right?” I ask.“Are you sure?” Olivia asks with an astonished face. “I thought I had ...more

Overall, I really enjoyed the book. I loved the characters. They are well developed and I found myself being emotionally attached to them. The world building was well done, and the story line exciting. I plowed through this book.

With that being said, I ran into a few issues, but they are minor. The biggest of these being the grammar. It was pretty bad and definitely could have used a few more edits before going to print. There were not just missing words, but words placed within words. I would

I was given this book to write a honest review.
I really enjoyed this book but got frustrated with the length of it as I wanted to know what happens lol.
I haven't read many books of this nature but this is one of the best. The story was gripping and entertaining with goodies , baddies and Zombies. A great action packed Zombie book.
The author created a mixture of emotions throughout the book: laughter, tears, sympathy, strength, joy etc she did a great job.
I feel the author gave a great insigh

this was a great start to the series. i do have a few complaints, i found it unrealistic that olivia became with badass fighter when prior to the infection, she had no training, also some of the stuff she did, i am not sure it is possible considering her small size. also she was severally injured and experienced a lot of trauma (emotionally and physically), i have a hard time believing she was able to bounce back so quickly. with that said, i am very excited for the next book in the series. i ...more

This book definitely put a unique spin on the apocalypse. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and never even realized that it was longer than most. It was kind of nice not to burn through it in 48 hours.

The characters in this story were fully developed all of them. I laughed out loud many times. The banter between John and Jared was hysterical. I know this seems morbid considering the circumstances but it was told so well that I never felt guilty for laughing. It was refreshing to have this type of

Recieved from author for honest review. Let me start out by saying I never read books like this. I stay away from post apocolyptic/zombie stories as a rule. I've never even seen one episode of Walking Dead. Gasp! I know...But I decided to check this one out, and I am so glad I did!! It was an amazing ride. A little too long, which is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. But the author gives such life to her characters, and the plot was so thought out, there was no way I was putting this ...more

I liked the book a lot. it's different from most zombie books it wasn't zomb killing or trying to find a magical cure I'll be disappointed in the series if a cure does come in to play. the only things I didn't really like we're at times Olivia her past was to much to be believe able.I understand it's a ruthless lawless world. and how everyone became such a bitch. especially Jared he matured yes but as a leader he sucked it stopped being about group survival and his sole focus was her. but ...more

I was disappointed in this book. It started out so good but fell to pieces at around 60%. It's like the author lost their flow. It became a rambling mess. I was very disappointed in the author's attempt at humor at the expense of an unattractive female and the use of a derogatory name for a gay male. It was not funny at all. I felt it was offensive and it did nothing to endear to me to the character. Such a let down.

I have to admit this wasn't what I was used to reading.
I kind of liked it.
I'll probably read it again, but when I've got a little more time on my hands, since now because of the time limit there's on the reviews, I couldn't get into it as much as I like.
It was a nice enough read though.

The writing was done well in this book, It started off rather slowly, but as it progressed the main character became more relatable and easy to like.

“It’s like before when there was a huge pile up on the highway, as soon as you got to the point in the traffic jam that you could see the accident, your eyes were glued to the window and you nearly rear ended the guy in front of you so that you can catch a peek at the victims. Sick fucks that we are, we like to witness the suffering of others and say, 'sucks to be them.' We bob our heads to the radio as we open up our engines and tear down the now cleared highway, continuing on with our lives as if we didn’t just witness someone’s spine being scraped off the ground. Come on, you know you’ve done it. Everyone has, and right now is one of those moments.” 1 likes
“What’s wrong with you?” John asks suspiciously. I give him a ‘what chu talkin’ ‘bout Willis?’ look and he explains. “You just woke up.” I nod. “Walked into the kitchen.” Once again I nod, not seeing what the big deal is. “And didn’t rip apart the cabinets like a rabid squirrel looking like coffee.” I shrug at that, I didn’t even remember it. “What the fuck have you done with my best friend?” 0 likes
