Inubaka: Crazy for Dogs, Volume 8
Feeling that she's been far too lenient with Lupin, Suguri starts him on a strict training regimen. But then Lupin disappears, and Suguri blames herself. When standard search methods fail, it's time for some creative problem solving. With a little luck and a little talent she just might be able to do it!

Wow - this one was so sad! Poor Lupin runs away during a thunderstorm and no one knows where he is. And then he gets attacked by another dog!
No further romance between Tappei and Suguri :( Maybe in the next one, as they are set to go on holiday!

I love this series. The art is fantastic, the dogs are adorable -- and Suguri is one of the most likeable people I've seen. (Okay, she's also rather unrealistic, but hey. :P) In volume 8, a thunderstorm causes Lupin to run away (and get lost, though I thought dogs were supposed to have a good sense of smell...maybe the rain messed things up), and Suguri spends all her efforts on finding him.

I asked for more Lupin, and that is what this installment of "Crazy for Dogs" delivers. It was hard to read at times, as Lupin runs away during a freak lightning storm. He hides in a moving truck and is driven far away from home and Suguri. Suguri is in a panic, as any dog owner would be. Lupin gets into trouble and makes new friends (and enemies), but I found myself flipping ahead to make sure he would end up ok. Highly enjoyable adventure told from dog's viewpoint.
