Once you have read these poems and heard them sing in your head, you will have to find ways to salve the resultant sensitivities. Stripped spare. Lauren Camp stuns me into that place behind silence. And makes me yearn for the mother love of my imagination.

She starts the book with this quote: “the flower of distance is blooming. I want you to look through the window and tell me what you see:...Go to the window as if you’d been preparing for this your entire life.”
Start there and see that every poem is like that and what do you have: Lauren Camp. Intense, strangely smoldering, a little dangerous; you don’t even want to know what she’s been through, but in a way you do know, and it’s kind of lush in a very unsentimental

Lauren Camp is the author of two poetry collections, This Business of Wisdom (West End Press, 2010) and most recently, The Dailiness (Edwin E. Smith Publishing, 2013). She writes two poetry blogs, Which Silk Shirt and Notes to Cecil. Every week, she hosts “Audio Saucepan,” a jazz-inflected, global music/poetry program on Santa Fe Public Radio, KSFR 101.1FM. She is also an acclaimed visual artist.
