I purchased this book because it is by a local author. It has several short stories and poems. I really enjoyed the piece called "Being Country." Though I don't live that life, it reminded me of stories my great-grandparents would tell about living in Grand Chenier. I was glad to be reminded of them with this story/poem. I also appreciate the piece at the end called "Untitled" about the author's father & brother passing. It's brave of her to share these words. Thank you!

This is a good book for anyone who enjoys southern writers. The author uses some beautiful and moving descriptions in her poetry and short stories. I only wish the works had been longer.
