Joni Hilton usually writes humorous stories, but this one is serious and I like it better than her funny ones. I wish it were a little longer so I could review it for my Meridian column. It deals mostly with a man's memories which can be difficult to write, but Hilton handles this well telling the story of a man growing up in the sixties, the child of a World War II widow. It touches on the issues of the sixties and so much more.

This is the first book I've read by this author, who is a friend of my sister's. She gave me the e-book as a gift. I truly enjoyed this story of an incredible mom who raised her son with such amazing love. She had a way of instilling strong character in him and the characters of the small town and extended family were fun and believable.
