Avery Bartholomew Pendleton is back, and he’s just as crazy as ever. Avery is a paranoid loner obsessed with global conspiracy theories who spends most of his time crafting absurd and threatening letters to anyone who offends him. That means pretty much everyone.

Still convinced of the existence of the mythical Mexican chupacabra*, Avery enlists the assistance of the Southw

Avery Bartholomew Pendleton is crazier than ever and now he even has company: Ziggy and the whole Southwest Texas Revolutionary Armed Confederate Border Operations Militia (STRAC-BOM) - all seven of them. If you've read the first book, you know what that means.

I loved this story. It is a really weird combination of gruesome and horrible depiction of murders committed by cartels, where you can't find a single funny thing, and funny and entertaining adventures of Avery and his side-kicks. The t

A while back, I had the pleasure of reading ‘The Chupacabra’ by Stephen Randel. Needless to say, I was elated to be allowed to review the sequel, ‘Trail of the Chupacabra’. Billed as a dark comedy, Trail begins where the original left off. Although definitely not a prerequisite, I recommend reading the first simply because it’s THAT good.
Chupacabra is Spanish for ‘goat sucker’ & has been oft considered a mythological creature despite numerous accounts to the contrary. Latin America is pepp

‘Trail of the Chupacabra’ by Stephen Randel is a fabulous revisit to the world of ‘The Chupacabra’, released last year. While Kip and his father Bennett’s story take a backseat during this installment, we get to see a whole lot more Avery – a self-proclaimed technical god, possible genius and letter writer extraordinaire – his best friend, Ziggy – Avery’s complete opposite and a guy who totally reminds me of someone I know – and STRAC-BOM… and who doesn’t love that motley band of gun totting, ...more

This book is a sequel to The Chupacabra. Avery is back and he's even crazier (and still looking for a chupacabra).

The characters in this book are very, very strange. There are no completely normal characters here. And that's what makes it so interesting. You just keep wondering what kind of ridiculous situation are they going to get themselves in next.

The letters that Avery writes to a long list of people are awesome. It's hilarious how seriously he takes himself (he even yells "Do you know who

Too funny.
Avery makes the book a hoot. Within the drug cartels' carnage he writes letters to various e companies requesting refunds, free products, financial backing for his ideas ( based on his obsession with Mountain Dew ). Am looking forward to book three

Truly delightful. The entire gang is back for another misadventure. These characters are made for television. :)
