My Survey of Amer. Lit. class text. Another life changer. Fell in love with so many greats, and learned about the industrial revolution.

As far as anthologies needed for school it was a'ight. most of the stories in here are super racist stories by super racist people, which is appropriate for the time period this anthology covers. That doesn't mean I had any enjoyment while reading them.

we're finished with this anthology for the course, and no, we did not read all of it, but I found it hard to relate to a lot of the texts in here- even the poetry. bleh. I will be selling this back to the bookstore because unfortunately two stars does not excite me enough to keep it.

This book has a ton of great short stories from authors like Charles Chestnutt, Kate Chopin, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Ambrose Bierce, Stephen Crane, Upton Sinclair, Sarah Orne Jewett, and E. Paultine Johnson. Very interesting read for people who like diverse short literature.

Would've been a lot more fun if I didn't have to dissect it in 10th grade English class in order to write my first term paper...Was cheering on Hester the whole time!

Done with this class and this anthology. In this case I did read nearly all of it. Good stuff, but thought my eyes were going to fall out from exhaustion.
