I did not use this book in a course, but bought it as a reference before returning to college after 20 years. The book shines in three ways. First, it provides a detailed explanation of literary terms that need to be understood to succeed in an undergraduate English literature course. This was a simple and easy to understand English Lit book. I enjoyed it, however it seems to have a little too many descriptive when trying to explain things. The material was a little easier to understand than I thought it should have been, considering it is a college course.
