I liked this book because it’s all about basketball and that’s my second favorite sport. Also it’s very interesting with the separation of his parents and how he cannot concentrate on his basketball skills. I could never put it down until the end. My favorite character in Comeback Kids is Lenny Dinardo because he likes to play basketball. He’s the best player on the YMCA. At the end, Lenny made the winning shot and became the center of attention. My favorite scene is when Billy was playing in a More...

If I had boys, this would be a great book for them! My nephews love these books. This particular one is about a boy whose mother and father are in the process of getting a divorce. There's also a younger brother that is gifted at piano and not sports plus a teenage sister that is always cheerful but overly chatty. The main character learns that sometimes being the star of the game doesnt mean being the one with the hot hand (and shooting all the time). He sacrifices a championship game to s More...

The book I read was called the Comback kids. It was written by Mike Lupica. It is about a boy named Billy and his parents are divorced. He has a brother named Ben and two sisters named Eliza and Peg. Billy's favorite sport is basketball, but he is not the best on the basketball team Lenny DiNardo was. It didn't bother Billy because he and Lenny were best friends. Billy's dad was the coach of the team and Lenny's dad was the assistant coach. There team was the best in the league there team More...

I loved this book. I love sports but in general find a lot of sports books to be boring. This book, though, was great. It's a fast read. I read it in one night.

Billy loves basketball and in fact lives for basketball even more so now that he has been told that his parents are going through a trial seperation. His coach is his dad and they have a lot of issues. Billy's mad at his dad for leaving and he's mad at his dad for always complaining about his actions on the court. According t More...

It’as simple. All Billy Raynor wants to do is shoot. After all, he is one of the best shooters in the league. But with his dad as his coach, and his parents newly separated, somehow everything’s become complicated. His brother Ben, the piano prodigy, hardly talks anymore. His mom is always traveling on business. And his dad is always on his case about not being a team player.

This is the first sports-related book that I've read (Unless if you would consider putting kids in an arena and watch them kill each other a sport).

I like the story. It has a good message, but the characters aren't described very well. It's hard for me to enjoy a book if I can't fully imagine a character.

Billy wasn't the best on his ten- and eleven year old rec league at the YMCA. The team is 10-0but Mr. D is 1-0 on basketball. Billy and Ben because Billy was out of breath and Ben was mad that Billy was still steaming mad.
