If you're looking for pretty, this is your book. If you want to use it as a cookbook, pass this one by. While it is lovely to look at, the commentary delightful, and pictures sumptuous, I really cannot recommend this book based upon the recipes alone. Not only are they badly written and clearly unedited, the pictures do not provide accurate representations of the various dishes.

Take, for example, the Onion Soup. In the case of the picture, it shows a dark soup, clearly the result of caramelized

With cold weather hanging around, what better time to curl up with a lovely cookbook and head off to a distant land. For this trip I chose France with the lovely "French Bistro" by Maria Zihammou. I could tell it was going to be special right off the bat. My husband LOVES olives, so the different types of marinated olives will be a big hit with him, and the Mushrooms with Garlic and Parsley are so scrumptious!
