One of the BEST books I have ever read. Ella Thorp Ellis brings the thoughts and feelings of the characters to life and the reader lives every word of it. By the last page The Year of My Indian Prince leaves you dumbfounded, depressed, and content all at the same time (the mark of a good book).

I was pleasantly surprised by this book... and I think that a lot of people would be too if they read this book just because of the overall nature of this book. I mean it's about a girl being stuck in a year or so in a tuberculosis care hospital. How boring does that sound?? But yet it was so much better that that! The characters were just very believable and caring, this book is a small gem.

An interesting look at author's fictionalized account of year in TB hospital at age 17, right after the end of WW2. I have to say that it felt very "modern"--did not seem at all like it took places in the 1940s. To me, that was not a plus, but maybe other readers will feel differently.

Wow, what a great story. I hate knowing what a book is all about before I read it. Sometimes, I will pick up a book at the library sale, look at the jacket to see if it interests me and then leave it on my shelf for months until I look at it and go, huh, what is this one? That was this book, and I will not ruin it for you. Don't even look at the description, just get it and read it. Borrow if from me even! A wonderful story for teens and adults alike. Plus, the best part is after the book More...

Based on a true story about a girl in the 1940's who had TB. I liked the story when I read it as a teen.
