As good as I thought the first book was, this book is even better. Many authors have that quality first book, then in their follow on, the quality declines as they grasp for plots to extend the story or start blathering on about their personal preferences for love, life, food choices, political beliefs and all other what not. Mark doesn't.

Just finished this after re-reading The Pocket and the Pendant ... WOW. This book swallows the first book whole! The leaps from Pocket to Travelers is like the leap from the The Hobbit to Fellowship of the Ring -- it has the same characters, but a much bigger and expanded world and stakes. The writing is much better in this book as well, Mr. Jeffrey has learned a lot since his first outing. He managed to touch on every theme and idea I have an interest in once again, a very philosophical boo...more

I had the opportunity to read this book pre-release, a couple of years ago, and it was a wonderful read. An amazing expansion of the world Jeffrey created in The Pocket and the Pendent, the story takes us deeper into the mysterious world of Max Quick and his friends. The characters are richer, the Max universe is wider, and the excitement is greater.

What a remarkable universe Jeffrey has developed for our enjoyment! I was able to fall in love with the main characters in the first book, The Pocket and the Pendant, but this one really cemented that feeling. The challenges these kids are faced with are common to every day living, and you really can connect with some of the trials they face. But, just as you feel you understand the world and it's inner workings, Jeffrey takes you for another ride and things are not as they have been... or ever ...more

A good tale, probably better than the first one. While the first one stands on it's own pretty well, this volume really screams out for the sequel. Well worth it if you've already read the first volume and were waiting for more, but if you haven't read volume 1, it might pay to wait until volume 3 is available before starting.
