These people have survived through chance, not skill, and they are a desperate bunch; cheating lovers, work-shy civil servants, permanently drunk publicans, teenage rebels, obsessive accountants, f...more

Including his Autumn trilogy, this (prequel) novel, the fourth in the telling of the aftermath of a pandemic which first wipes out more than 99% of the population of England and then inexplicably resuscitates 1/3rd of its dead, is inhabited by even more insufferable cowards, quislings, momma's boys and whiny, ineffectual women; all of them so hopelessly incapacitated by grief, fear and habitual stubbornness and stupidity that death is merely a waiting game. The stalwart, survivalist hero cum sup...more

Autumn: The Human Condition is the forth book in David Moody’s post-apocalyptic zombie saga. The book is a companion book that explores various characters sub-plots during the time of the Autumn novels. The book evolved from the Autumn: Echoes series that has been available as a free download from David Moody’s website. The book draws reference to a lot from all three previous Autumn novels, mostly from the third instalment Autumn: Purification.

From the very start of this companion book, the moo...more

This collection of short stories centered around the Autumn universe, created by David Moody, is sometimes billed as "Autumn 3.5" so I decided that's exactly where I'd read it as I plowed through the series, between three and four. Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't have waited until the series was finished.

This was less of a quick read than the other books in the series, partly because I found so many of the stories to be profoundly sad, and because a consistent action oriented plot wasn't at pla...more

Even more people introduced as the fruitful creativity of Moody continues to entertain us. He moves us through with such a feeling of reality that we sometimes forget the zombie apocalypse is not right outside our door! Love it!!

I loved the Autumn series. This book is like short stories of the apocalypse and it sheds some light
on the overall story. Moody does a nice job at tying all the characters and plot in all the Autumn
series with this last book. It also was a quick, easy read that kept my interest the whole way through.

I loved this companion book just as much as I loved the Autumn series. I highly recommend this book if you have read the Autumn series of 5 books first. Moody's brilliance shines yet, again. The book consist of a journey, viewed through many eyes from different characters, their take on everything when the world came to a screaming halt as well as the after shock and the survival/fighting to maintain what is left of humanity. Moody even taps into the "Zombie's" view. Its a horror/nightmare that...more

Another brilliant book in the Autumn series. Here we read more about the characters and are introduced to some new ones. It makes a very good companion to the other books.

This book wasn't exciting like the others so far in the Autumn series. Even though the ebook was 237 pages long, it was a slow read. I just don't care enough about these characters to want to know what they were doing the moment the apocalypse hit, especially the random people who aren't in any of the other books.

After reading the other Autumn books, got bored with this one. I read to be entertained or informed, I don't read to be bored.

David Moody was born in 1970 and grew up in Birmingham on a diet of trashy horror and pulp science fiction books and movies. He worked as a bank manager and as operations manager for a number of financial institutions before giving up the day job to write about the end of the world for a living. He has written a number of horror novels, including AUTUMN, which has been downloaded more than half a...more
